Andromeda was curled up in a chair, lazily going over the charms that Flitwick had told them to practice. She trilled her lips and leaned her head back against the chair's arm. She glanced down at Juniper, gently nudging her with her foot. "You're not seriously trying to do all of your homework in one night, are you?"
"No, just half. Essays today, practice tomorrow." Juniper replied, adding the finishing touches to her essay before putting down her quill and blowing on the roll of parchment to dry the ink. "Two down, two to go." She took out a fresh roll of parchment and traded her Transfiguration textbook for her Arithmancy one.
"Don't you feel like you might be pushing yourself too hard, Juni?" Andromeda asked, frowning softly. "Whatever happened to splitting homework up throughout the week and finishing whatever still needed to be done on Sunday night?"
"That kind of mindset won't do me any good if I'm serious about becoming an Auror," Juniper stated. "This year is all about studying so that I can pass my O.W.L.s and enter N.E.W.T. level classes to get the required marks to begin training after I graduate."
"How extraordinary that you're managing to do all of that and chase after my sister at the same time," Andromeda teased, smirking when Juniper's face tinted bright red, her fingers freezing on the page she was turning.
Juniper took a deep breath in through her nose, exhaling slowly. "I'm not chasing after Bellatrix," she said quietly. "I just want to be friends with her."
"Well, whatever you're doing, I think it's starting to get to her." Andromeda twirled her wand between her fingers. "She's been oddly quiet lately, always locking herself in her dorm save for classes and meals. She even stopped being so hard on me for being friends with you. It's honestly starting to freak me out. Narcissa and I are so used to her being cold."
"Her being somewhat nice is freaking you out?" Juniper raised a brow.
Andromeda chuckled. "I'm just saying, she's not exactly the most approachable person, but there's something about you that's thawing her. I think it's scaring her."
"What's her deal, anyway?" Juniper asked as she sat up. "Surely you know why she acts the way she does."
"Well . . . our parents aren't the nicest people, as I'm sure you're aware. Pureblood supremacists and all that." Andromeda slid out of the chair and onto the floor, crossing her legs. "They're the hardest on Bella since she's the eldest, resulting in her acting the same way towards me and Cissy. She has a lot of pressure on her shoulders. She wants to please them, honour the family name, support their beliefs . . . "
