"I'm ready!"
I exclaimed softly before stepping out of the door. Fyxis eyes scanned my body, from my feet up to my face. My teeth sink onto my bottom lip as his heated gaze travels back into my eyes. I met them half way. I can't read the expression he's wearing.
"Did you choose a name for yourself?'
My brows lifted to his question. He is not that kind of person who explains a lot. I wonder how people who didn't understand him in the first place ended? I looked at him, waiting for him to say something. Nothing makes me more anxious than being here today. I can't back out now. I already made my choice.
"You don't wanna use your real name, do you?"
He's right. My name itself is a distraction. It was already tarnished both as a pet and as a rogue. If I wanna last longer and to really start something new, I should call myself something new too. I'm not skilled when it comes to making new terms or names but I have something in mind. I think it'll suit me well.
"Grave!"
Fyxis fixed his gaze on me. He's not questioning my choice, he was confirming it. His lips pursed after a few seconds of silence. I know it wasn't as pleasing as it sounds but it will be it. The name will remind me of this chance to redeem myself. I already have my targets in mind. And this door was the way towards my retribution.
"Well then! Let's go Grave!"
Hearing it from his lips, I felt reborn. He turned towards the exit of the room I was occupying. I arrange the hood of my coat before marching towards the door with the heavy combat boots that are wrapping my feet. The excess fabric of my long-sleeved shirt warms my nose as I cover my lower face. Just like yesterday, the people around that work in this area scatter on the hallway, minding their own business as we walk past them. Still, they give Fyxis respect whenever they can.
The sound of my code name is like a blood that runs through my veins, the fuel to the small lit fire that almost dissipated while fighting over the fate of life. This new thing is slowly keeping me alive and putting me back on track. It's too early to tell how much further I can go. Challenges are inevitable but I will try to face it. This is the chance I won't meet again. And even if I die going wherever this may take me, I won't regret feeling more alive for once.
We finally reached the entrance. My eyes scan the place. Fyxis looks back at me as he slips his hands in his jeans' pocket. He was wearing black sleeveless shirt that displays his well built biceps. His jacket was tied on his waist making him look more bulk and cool.
"I'll take you to your center. It's on the other side of the city. That's one and a half kilometers from here."
"Am I allowed to go back here?"
