Liah Arxien

"Do I hate you?"

He asked scanning my eyes. His eyes were piercing through my soul, he's expecting me to answer my own question. But how should I know that when he's not readable enough? I don't want to expect that he didn't.

"If hating you can be counted as a reason to get rid of you, I should have done that long ago."

So he really does hate me. But why did he ask me as a compensation to the business of that man? What is interesting about me that he demanded to leave me in Echelon and never to return to the nasty shop ever again? What's the point of wasting his time and luxury to a pet like me?

Is it because I'm too expensive enough to get his money wasted?

I was about to speak but he already look at his back when the door was pushed open revealing a man who's wearing a white long sleeved cloth covered with black blazer, a bow at the center of his neck, matches with black pants and a pair of black shoes. There's a small gold chain like thing on his left pocket. I could guess that it holds a small clock at the end.

His hair which was seasoned with gray strands have been brushed towards his back, making him look clean. I guess he's about 40 years old, the glasses he's wearing tells me so. He smiled as soon as Xeus eyes mets his. He slowly bowed to his presence with his right hand resting under his chest.

"Welcome back home Young Master!"

He greeted warmly before standing up straight. His eyes shifted to where I'm standing. I can see the confusion in his eyes as he observe my figure. After a while, he smiled at my presence.

"Young Master, I was not informed that you'll going back with a guest today?"

He said as he chuckled which made me looked confuse. I look at myself. I found myself on an oversized t-shirt and denim shirt which doesn't looked like a guess but someone who just woke up the next morning just to wear her man's shirt. I mean.... Damn! What the hell did I just said.

"I am not-"

"Didn't I told you on the phone Akus?"

My voiced were left hanged as he asked the man in front of him. Why does he looked like he's not affected by how this person addresses me as a guest rather than his pet.

I slowly took off from my spot and followed them as they started to walk. The door creak as it was pushed open. The person whom he just called Akus chuckled lightly to his master.

"Forgive me Young Master, I might have forgotten about it due to Madamé Athena's orders this morning."

Xeus chuckled lightly at him before he tapped the man's shoulder. I raised my brows looking at their backs. My master looked like he have become a different person. The way how he smiles at the butler is real. No signs of pretends.

In Echelon when it comes to slaves and other workers, he always wears his stern-serious face. Everyone fears him. No one dares look at him through his eyes. Not even touching him nor he touches them. There's this required distance between him and his slaves.

But looking at him like now, touching this person, he sure must have trusted him. And how he approaches him with his softness is a miracle. Even the other lords bowed their heads in his presence, especially when he's mad. Not even Hazel can escape his wrath.

"Liah, this is Akus the head butler of this mansion. He's serving us for 28 years already."

I stopped and looked up to him before turning to the man beside him. He gave me a warm smile before he lowered his head. Wait, did he just bowed to me? I was left startled as he arrange himself and look at his master again. I gave Xeus a confusing look which he just ignored before giving the butler a smile.
