51- Gone

Hannah's POV:

We ran and ran through the dark halls back the way we came. We ran to where the door was that we came in but it was replaced by a wall that had writing on it just like the one in Sofia's "bedroom".
It read,

'X no way out'

Just like the name of that maze thing at Thorpe park. I have to give X credit for coming up with that one.

"Fuck..." Cam whispered as we looked around. There was two long dark corridors.

"We'll have to split up" Hayes said as I shook my head in disagreement.

"Hannah, we need to get Sofia out of here or she'll bleed to death" Cam said. I thought for a moment weighing up the pros and cons until I finally, but unwillingly agreed.

"I'll take Sofia and got that way. You and Hayes go that way" he said pointing in all of the directions.

I shook my head and stepped back holding onto Sofia even more.

"No. She's staying with me" I stated.

"Hannah, if something happens to you we need someone.....capable of protecting her" he spoke.

"I can protect her" I argued as she started crying harder.

"Hannah....please..." Cam said holding his arms out to take her. I thought for a moment.

"The longer we are here now the worse she's going to get" Hayes said as I gave in and passed her to Cam who stared running down the corridor.

Me and Haye ran down the opposite one trying to find an escape. We were searching for about half an hour before I saw light down one of the corridors.

"Down here" I said to Hayes as we ran towards the light. We finally reached the end to see a window that was boarded up.

"We need to find something to break the-" I was cut of by Hayes grabbing the wooden board and ripping it clean off the window.

"Or we could just do that" I said as he ripped the other one off. He then used the wood to smash the window.

He gave me a leg up as I pushed myself up and jumped out of the window. It was only the first floor so it wasn't that much of a drop.

I looked inside the window to see Hayes starting to climb up. His attention averted down the left corridor as a look of panic spread on his face.

I stuck my head in to see a man with a black hoodie, black pants and black shoes on and a knife in his hand.

Hayes struggled to climb up as I stuck my hand in as he grabbed hold of it. I pulled and pulled and eventually got him up just as the man was about to stab him.

He fell to the floor as he pulled himself up and we ran. There were police cars and cops surrounding the building as they shined there torches as it was still dark.

We ran to the cops and to the one we saw earlier that came to our house.

"What the hell were you thinking" he shouted as I ignored him and looked around for Cam and Sofia.

"W-where are they" I stuttered.

"Where is who?" the cop questioned.

"My brother and my daughter" I said running a hand through my hair. Then I realised. what if X got them.

I stopped and turned around looking at the building that gave me so many memories and nightmares.

I started walking at a quick pace towards the building as panic, worry and anger filled my body.

The cops started to call my name but I ignored them. Instead,i started running at full speed. Footsteps were getting closer from behind me as I looked round and saw it was Hayes.

I was about to climb into the window when a scream sounded from down the corridor.

"NO! PLEASE" Cam screamed. I pulled myself up but as I was about to jump in, an arm pulled me back and carried me back to the cars.

I kicked, punched and screamed for him to let me go be he didn't budge.

"Please. I need to find them" I screamed. Suddenly everyone's attention averted from me, to something behind me.

I turned around to see Cam running towards us with Sofia in his arms. But she was pale. And bloody.

I ran full speed but before I got to them, Cam fell on his knees as he cried looking down at Sofia.

His eyes then met mine as they filled with a sorrowful look.

"I-I'm so s-sorry" he cried.

It was then, at that moment

That I realised what was going on

I froze as the sound of the sirens dimmed down and peoples voices started to get quieter and quieter.

My breathing sped up immensely as tears streamed from my eyes.

"No" I whispered

"NO" I said again but this time in a scream.

I ran over with all the strength I had left, bending down and holding her in my arms

Hayes bent down to as he cried but I couldn't hear his cries

I couldn't hear anything

Everything was numb

Empty

Like someone just pressed pause on the world

I looked down at her pale skin and bloody wounds

I lifted her up and hugged her safely

I rocked back and forth as I cried uncontrollably

I watched as the paramedics lifted her up and put her on a stretcher

They covered her over with a white sheet and took her to the back of the ambulance.

I pulled at the roots of my hair as my sobs were getting increasingly louder

I screamed and bashed on the floor as people tried to calm me down but I just pushed them away

Hayes ran over and fell down next to me crying and screaming to

He wrapped me in his arms but that's not what I wanted

I didn't want his arms around me

I wanted Sofia's.

It's weird that someone could just be here one minute and be gone the next

But that's what upsets me the most

That I'm never going to see her beautiful face and beautiful smile again

She was beautiful, innocent, happy, kind and sweet

But now....

She's gone
