꧁꧂"(M/N)... sit," Adrian demanded, gesturing for (Y/N) to take a seat beside him.
(Y/N) instead chose to remain standing, irritating Adrian enough to make his eyes narrow and his teeth grit. Seeing this, she swallowed thickly, forcing one foot in front of the other until she was only a few feet away, stopping there. Reaching out, Adrian made sure that she listened to his command by grabbing her arm and pulling her down.
"W—"
"Just stay like this," he ordered.
Silence settled thickly between them, neither of the two saying anything, instead just being present in the darkness of his room. (Y/N) tried hard not to fidget, her heart rate accelerating, not sure how to respond to him after what he did to her—after he kissed her like that.
"(M/N)... I love you."
"Your Highness, I—"
"What would it take for you love me?" Adrian cut her off as he turned toward her, the question clearly written over his face. "Is it that woman? That man? Do you love one of them? Do I have to kill them to make you look my way?"
(Y/N) shuddered at his words.
That woman?
That man?
Who...?
Her eyes then widened as it dawned on her.
Is he talking about... Leo?
"You know who I'm talking about..." he observed, his lips twitching. "You do have feelings for one of them... so I do have to kill them, don't I?"
"N-No... Your Highness, you don't have to do that," she tried to convince him.
"Is that so? Because it seems to me that that's exactly what I need to do," he stated, standing up and walking swiftly toward the door, only stopping and stiffening when she had also sprang up to grab his hand. "What are you doing, (M/N)?"
"Your— Adrian... please don't do that... they're... only my friends..."
"Only friends, you say? Then why is it so hard for you to accept me?" He asked, turning around to face her. "I can give you everything you could ever desire... yet you still refuse. Why?"
"I..." she trailed off.
She then jumped when Adrian twisted her hand around so that their fingers were then intertwined together. He stared at her, as if telling her to combat him, as if telling her to say he was wrong. Using their now connected hands to his advantage, he pulled her closer until their chests were touching, cupping a hand around her neck and letting his nose brush against her own.
"You don't push me away..." he murmured, brushing a strand of her hair away.
"I want to," she moved her head.
"Then why don't you, hm? Why do you give me this false sense of hope when you don't push me away, even though you say you want to?" He whispered, his grip on her hand tightening to extreme points. "Does this mean... that you do feel something for me? That there is some reason for this hope that I'm feeling?"
"I'm sorry, but there isn't..."
"Then why not push me away?"
"Because if I do..." she grit her teeth, digging her nails into his skin, however he not flinching in the slightest. "...I fear that I might die. Or, even worse, that someone else I care about will die."
"'Someone... else?'"
"Your Highness, I do care about you, that much is true, but not in the way you're wanting," she spoke as she looked into his eyes, searching his amber gaze for any sign of anger, any sign of displeasure, yet finding nothing but a strong longing and sadness. "This... is not love. Whatever you're feeling for me... it is something that cannot be."
"I can make it so," Adrian denied her claims, once again showing no signs of rage. "I want you. I want you to be with me."
"I am with you, standing right here."
"No... no, no, no," he shook his head, now placing both hands on her shoulders as he leaned forward slightly, his head level with her chest, his gaze glued to the floor. "I want your affection. I want your time. I want your experiences. I want everything about you... everything. And, I don't think I can live without you now..." He took in a shuddering breath, raising his head to look at her—his eyes holding a rather crazed glint as he continued, "You consume me, and I want that feeling to last forever."
As he once again pressed his lips to hers, his tight grip keeping her from squirming out of his hold, he backed (Y/N) up until she fell over onto his bed, splayed out for all of him to see.
"Honestly..." he mumbled into her neck, his warm breath fanning over her skin. "Seraph was right... you truly do have such beautiful skin for a man."
As she felt her body heat up with his actions, she used all of her strength to push him off of her, running toward the door and yanking it open, freezing when the barrel of a gun pointed straight at her. What made her blood run cold was the man holding it—the man whom she deemed a friend, and the man whom she trusted.
"A-Aadon?" She stuttered out.
"(M/N)..." Aadon trailed off, his dark eyes filled with sadness. "I didn't know you were here..."
The two stared at each other, (Y/N)'s gaze filled with betrayal and horror whilst Aaron's was only filled with detachment and pity. Neither said anything and neither moved, her eyes however catching on another figure emerging from the shadows—Dañero, he too holding a gun with a cold look to his blue eyes. (Y/N) took a trembling step back only to bump into Adrian's chest, his hand tugging her behind him.
"So... I was right," Adrian scowled, crossing his arms and glaring daggers at the two men who were pointing guns at him. "There was a traitor—two, actually. Most likely three if we're counting your deceased friend. Claude Laurent, wasn't it?"
"Shut up!" Aadon snarled, his gaze filled with nothing but hatred. "You fucking killed him... so we returned the favor by killing your father."
(Y/N) could only stare in shock.
"That's right," Adrian smiled, closing his eyes and tilting his head. "I did."
With that, Aadon raised his gun and shot.
