Tw: b*n h*pe, anxiety

The following Monday dawned with a crisp chill in the air, marking the beginning of another challenging week. Nick and Charlie walked to school together, their hands entwined, drawing comfort from each other's presence. The incident with Ben lingered in their minds, a dark cloud over their usually bright mornings.

As they entered the school, Nick couldn't help but feel a pang of anxiety. Ben's obsessive behaviour had been unsettling. He glanced at Charlie, who offered him a reassuring smile.

"Let's just get through today, okay?" Charlie said softly.

Nick nodded, trying to muster up some courage. "Yeah,"

The day started uneventfully, and Nick found solace in the routine of his classes. However, during lunch, he noticed Ben watching them from across the cafeteria. The intensity in Ben's gaze was unmistakable, and it sent a shiver down Nick's spine.

When lunch ended, Nick and Charlie made their way to their next class. Ben approached them, his demeanour oddly pleasant.

"Hey, Charlie, can I talk to you for a minute?" Ben asked, ignoring Nick completely.

Charlie frowned, sensing the tension. "Sure, Ben. What's up?"

Ben gestured for Charlie to follow him a few steps away from Nick. "It's kind of private. Sorry, Nick."

Nick hesitated but nodded. "It's okay. I'll see you in class, Charlie."

As Nick walked away, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. He glanced back to see Ben leaning in closer to Charlie, speaking in hushed tones.

Charlie felt a knot form in his stomach as he listened to Ben. The new student’s tone was too familiar, too intense. Charlie had tried to give Ben the benefit of the doubt, but his behaviour was becoming increasingly troubling.

"Charlie, I really like you," Ben said suddenly, his eyes locking onto Charlie's with an intensity that made Charlie uncomfortable. "I think we could be great together."

Charlie took a step back, stunned. "Ben, I'm with Nick. You know that."

Ben's expression darkened. "Nick doesn't deserve you. You deserve someone who can make you happy."

Charlie shook his head, anger bubbling up inside him. "Ben, you need to back off. I'm with Nick, and nothing is going to change that."

Ben moved closer, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "You think Nick can protect you? He's weak. He can't give you what I can."

Charlie’s hands balled into fists, his anger now fully ignited. "Get away from me, Ben. This conversation is over."

Nick sat in his next class, his anxiety spiking as he watched the clock tick by. After what felt like an eternity, the bell rang. He rushed out of the room, desperate to find Charlie. When he spotted him in the hallway, relief washed over him. But the tension in Charlie's face was unmistakable.

"Charlie, what happened?" Nick asked, his voice filled with concern.

Charlie took a deep breath, trying to compose himself. "We need to talk. Let's find somewhere private."

They found an empty classroom and sat down. Charlie took Nick's hand, his expression serious.

"Ben tried to come on to me," Charlie admitted. "He said some really creepy things about how you don't deserve me and how he could make me happier."

Nick's heart sank. "What? That's insane. We need to tell someone."

"I know," Charlie agreed. "But first, I wanted to make sure you're okay. I know this must be really hard for you."

Nick nodded, tears welling up in his eyes. "I'm scared, Charlie. I don't know what to do."

Charlie pulled him into a tight hug. "We'll get through this together. Let's go find Mr. Ajayi, and tell him what's going on."

After explaining everything to Mr. Ajayi, the headteacher, was called in, and Ben was summoned to the office. The confrontation was tense, with Ben denying everything at first. But when faced with the consistent stories from both Nick and Charlie, the truth came out.

"You're all liars!" Ben shouted, his face contorted with rage. "This isn't over!"

Mr Barnes remained calm. "Ben, your behaviour is unacceptable. We will be contacting your parents, and disciplinary actions will follow."

As Ben was escorted out of the office, Nick felt a sense of relief but also a lingering fear. He knew that Ben's obsession wasn't something that would disappear overnight.

Later that evening, Nick and Charlie returned to Nick's house. Sarah greeted them at the door, her expression filled with concern. "I got a call from the school about what happened. Are you both okay?"

Nick nodded, feeling exhausted. "Yeah, we're okay. I'm just a bit shaken up."

Sarah hugged him tightly. "I'm so proud of you for standing up for yourself. We'll get through this, Nick."

The next day, Nick found himself at Geoff's office, explaining everything that had happened. Geoff listened intently, his expression serious.

"Nick, what you're going through is incredibly difficult," Geoff said gently. "But you did the right thing by confronting Ben and telling the authorities. It's important to set boundaries and protect yourself."

Nick nodded, feeling a bit more reassured. "It's just so hard. I feel like I'm constantly on edge."

Geoff leaned forward, his tone comforting. "It's completely normal to feel that way. The important thing is to keep talking about your feelings and to lean on your support system. You're not alone in this."

Nick left the session feeling a bit lighter, though the shadows of the past still lingered. He knew that the journey to recovery would be long and fraught with challenges, but with Charlie by his side, he felt a glimmer of hope.

Back at Nick's house, he and Charlie sat in Nick's room, the events of the past few days weighing heavily on them. They cuddled on the bed, finding solace in each other's presence.

"I talked to Geoff about everything," Nick said softly. "He said it's important to keep talking about my feelings and to set boundaries."

Charlie nodded, his hand gently stroking Nick's hair. "I'm glad you talked to him. We'll get through this, Nick. Together."

Nick smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude wash over him. "Thank you, Charlie. For everything."

"Always," Charlie replied, giving Nick a gentle kiss on the forehead.

As they lay there, holding each other close, Nick felt a sense of peace that had been missing for so long. He knew that there would be more challenges ahead, but with Charlie by his side, he felt ready to face whatever came next.
