The next morning, Nick woke up to the soft glow of sunlight filtering through his bedroom curtains. The warmth of the light cast a gentle golden hue over everything, making the room feel like a safe haven. He blinked, slowly adjusting to the light, and felt the comforting presence of Charlie beside him.

Charlie was still asleep, his arm draped protectively over Nick. His chest rose and fell with each steady breath, his face relaxed in peaceful slumber. Nick watched him for a moment, feeling a surge of affection and gratitude. He was so lucky to have Charlie, someone who stood by him through thick and thin.

Nick shifted slightly, careful not to wake Charlie, and snuggled closer. The simple act of being close to Charlie brought him a sense of comfort and safety he hadn't felt in a long time. He let out a contented sigh, his anxieties momentarily forgotten in the warmth of Charlie's embrace.

After a while, Charlie began to stir. He blinked his eyes open, squinting against the morning light, and smiled sleepily when he saw Nick. "Morning," he murmured, his voice soft and warm.

"Morning," Nick replied, his own voice a whisper. He reached up to brush a strand of hair from Charlie's forehead, his fingers lingering on his skin. "Did you sleep well?"

Charlie nodded, shifting slightly so he could look at Nick more fully. "Yeah, I did. How about you?"

Nick hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Better than I have in a while. Thanks to you."

Charlie smiled, his eyes filled with love and warmth. He leaned in and kissed Nick's forehead, a gentle, reassuring gesture. "I'm glad," he said softly. "You deserve to feel safe and happy, Nick."

Nick felt a lump in his throat, overwhelmed by Charlie's kindness and unwavering support. "I don't know what I'd do without you," he admitted, his voice trembling slightly.

"You don't have to find out," Charlie replied, his tone firm and reassuring. "I'm not going anywhere."

They lay there in silence for a while, simply enjoying the closeness and the quiet comfort of being together. Nick felt a sense of peace settle over him, a fragile yet precious feeling that he cherished deeply.

Eventually, Nick spoke up, his voice hesitant. "Charlie, do you... do you ever get scared about the future? About us?"

Charlie considered the question for a moment, his expression thoughtful. "Yeah, sometimes," he admitted. "But I know that as long as we're honest with each other and support each other, we can face anything."

Nick nodded, feeling a little more reassured. "I want that too. I want to be strong for you, for us."

Charlie smiled, his eyes shining with pride. "You already are, Nick. You've been through so much, and you're still here, still fighting. That takes so much strength."

Nick felt a warmth spread through his chest at Charlie's words. He still had a long way to go, but with Charlie by his side, he felt like he could take on anything.

They spent the rest of the morning cuddling, talking about everything and nothing. They shared dreams and fears, hopes and worries, their words weaving a tapestry of connection and understanding. Nick felt lighter with each passing moment, the weight of his anxieties slowly lifting in the presence of Charlie's unwavering love.

At one point, Charlie reached over to the nightstand and grabbed his phone. He held it up, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Wanna take some cute selfies?"

Nick laughed, a genuine, joyful sound that felt like a release. "Sure, why not?"

They spent the next few minutes taking silly and sweet pictures together, capturing the warmth and love that filled the room. Each photo was a reminder of their bond, a testament to their journey and the strength they found in each other.

As the day wore on, they decided to stay in and watch movies. Nick picked out a few of his favorite comfort films, and they snuggled up under a cozy blanket on the couch. The soft glow of the television illuminated their faces as they laughed, cried, and enjoyed the simple pleasure of being together.

Charlie held Nick close, his arm wrapped around him securely. Nick rested his head on Charlie's shoulder, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. It was a small, simple moment, but it meant everything to Nick.

"Thank you for being here," Nick whispered, his voice barely audible over the sound of the movie.

Charlie looked down at him, his eyes filled with love and determination. "Always, Nick. Always."

They stayed like that for the rest of the day, finding comfort and strength in each other's presence. And for the first time in a long while, Nick allowed himself to believe that things could get better. That with Charlie by his side, he could face whatever challenges lay ahead and find his way back to a place of peace and happiness.
