Tw: David, homophobia, mention of rape
Over the next few days, Nick and Charlie found themselves slowly becoming more comfortable with the new layers of intimacy they were exploring. It wasn’t rushed or pressured, but something that naturally unfolded as they learned more about each other’s boundaries. Each moment, every shared glance and touch was a step toward deeper trust.
One evening, after a quiet day spent lounging at Nick’s, they lay together on Nick’s bed, wrapped up in each other’s arms. The TV was playing softly in the background, but neither of them was paying much attention to it. They were focused on each other, enjoying the quiet comfort that came from being close.
Nick rested his head against Charlie’s chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. He felt calmer, more grounded than he had in a long time. The anxiety that used to grip him so tightly had begun to loosen its hold, thanks to Charlie’s patience and understanding.
“I was thinking,” Charlie said after a while, his voice quiet but certain, “Maybe we could try showering together?”
Nick lifted his head to look at him. There was no pressure in Charlie’s suggestion, just a gentle idea. A few days ago, even the thought of being naked in front of each other would have made Nick panic. But now, he felt more ready. They had been pushing through their boundaries step by step, and he trusted Charlie more than anyone.
“Yeah,” Nick said after a pause. “I think I’d like that.”
Charlie smiled warmly and kissed the top of Nick’s head before they both got up, moving toward the bathroom. Nick felt a flutter of nervousness in his stomach, but it wasn’t overwhelming. He knew that Charlie would never rush him, never push him beyond what he was comfortable with.
As the warm water cascaded down in the shower, they undressed in the bathroom. This time, it didn’t feel awkward or strange. They had already been naked in front of each other, but now it was different. There was an easy comfort between them.
Nick stepped into the shower first, letting the hot water roll down his back. Charlie followed a moment later, and soon, they were standing under the spray together. The warmth of the water enveloped them, and Nick felt a sense of safety that he hadn’t expected.
They washed each other gently, their touches soft and tender. It wasn’t about anything sexual; it was simply another way to connect, another step in their growing intimacy. Charlie carefully massaged shampoo into Nick’s hair, and Nick couldn’t help but smile at the tenderness of it.
“You okay?” Charlie asked as he rinsed the soap from Nick’s hair.
Nick nodded, feeling a bit shy but happy. “Yeah, I’m good. This feels... nice.”
“Good,” Charlie said softly, his hand running down Nick’s back in a comforting gesture. “I’m proud of you, you know.”
Nick’s heart warmed at those words. He knew how much Charlie’s support had meant to him during this journey, and he couldn’t help but feel grateful.
Once they finished, they stepped out of the shower and dried off together. It felt oddly normal, like they had always done this. Nick smiled to himself as they got dressed in comfortable clothes, heading back to Nick’s bedroom to relax. The shared shower had been a quiet, intimate moment, and it had made them feel even closer.
Over the next few days, they continued to grow more comfortable with their physical closeness. They would cuddle up in bed, sometimes without their shirts, their skin pressed against each other as they talked or watched a movie.
Nick felt himself slowly letting go of the insecurities that had once held him back. He still had moments where fear crept in, but Charlie was always there to reassure him. Every time Nick felt a little unsure, Charlie would check in with him, reminding him that they could stop at any time.
