CHAPTER thirteen

ever since the day Jayda had shown the Towerboys her powers, they non-stop bothered her with random questions they had in their little minds. asking about things they saw on the TV, if she saw capable of doing stuff like that, which Jayda mostly answered, but some were also a mystery to herself—too.

but one person she thought would also be curious, somehow was the complete opposite of it.

Tayo never bothered her with anything related to her powers, whenever they saw each other, he was only interested in her well-being, not in the things she was capable of like others.

she wouldn't had minded if he asked her a thousand of questions, since he did also have a power, but none were referred.

it was because the boy knew what it felt like being in that situation, he personally didn't like being at the center of attention, so he made sure to not do the same to her.

"hey." Tayo greeted Jayda, as he arrived to the Estate's usual hangout spot with the residents and the Towerboys. the two hugged, Jayda wrapping her hands around his torso while he engulfed his arms around her entire back: it lasted just a quick second otherwise it would've been awkward.

the boy then walked over to the rest of the group and greeted everybody else, dapping up Skreamer with a hug when he came to him. when he was done, he walked over to Jayda who was talking to one of her old friends.

Tayo stood next to her, standing silently with his hands in his pockets, the friend noticed him and knew the story between them, so she smiled towards Jayda and backed away—off to another group of people there.

Jayda then turned to him, a small smile forming on her face. "hey," she began, immediately catching his attention. "there was a weird delivery guy the other day that said strange stuff about the future."

he stayed silent and just nodded his to her, ushering her to continue. "somehow he knew about my powers, though."

"maybe he just saw you on your balcony." Tayo shrugged, as he leaned on the wall beside him, still facing her.

"how do you know i use my powers on my balcony?"

"i saw you."

"you're spying on me?" Jayda accused, with a hint of sarcasm in her tone of voice.

a small laugh could be heard from the boy, as he shook his head jokingly while bringing his head down for a second, before looking back at her. "you just happen to be there when i look outside." he explained, Jayda growing more amused by the second.

"yeah right, Tayo." she nodded repeatedly, crossing her hands while squinting her eyes at him.

they looked at each other with sparkles in their eyes, both feeling equal joy in them, but expressing it differently: she had a huge smile on her face, clearly amused by her discovery, while Tayo just had a small smile but the positive feelings inside him were exploding.

the small laughter they exchanged, eventually died down, as Jayda recalled whatever she needed to say to him earlier.

"anyways, he said that in the future, i could duplicate things, which isn't true." she continued, gesturing her words with her hands. "but... he also said that i could create defensive walls, which i did actually do one time."

the Amusan boy shifted in his position, also unclear on what to think exactly of the situation. "what else did he say?" he inquired.

"i don't know, he said something like 'and you're the only one not affected by—' before i closed the door on his face." Jayda sweatdropped, slightly laughing at the memory.

Tayo hummed in response, not actually believing that he was someone from the future, but with these powers—anything was possible. "have you tried duplicating things?"

"don't tell me you believe that weirdo." she fake gasped, lifting an eyebrow at him.

"i don't." Tayo shrugged, with yet again a small smile on his face. "but we both have these things..." he began, slightly lifting his hand up and eyeing it as only that part of his body became transparent, his eyes glowing yellow. "there's definitely other people like us out there."

"so you think he just got the wrong person?" Jayda tilted her head, touching the part of his hand before it became visible again.

Tayo furrowed his eyebrows when his hand returned to normal, but shrugged at her words. "maybe." he spoke, while Jayda removed her hands from him. "still doesn't explain the future shit."

"or maybe he was just on the pipe." she smiled, as Tayo removed one of his outer hands out from his pocket and brushed one her braids away from her face, into the back of her ear.

if she wasn't containing herself, Jayda felt like she could jump and squeal at any moment, feeling butterflies flying around in her stomach. even though Tayo had a simple black tracksuit on, with the hood up, he still managed to make her swoon over any simple action, any time.

and it seemed like the same for him, as his heartbeat was faster than normal, which he was glad she didn't hug him that moment and fell everything. that simple gesture took probably countless of restless nights to do, wondering if the act was cute or if she would find it embarrassing.

but there was absolutely no need for that much stress from both of them, since anything the other did, was perfectly fine with them.

some of the others saw that they finally managed to reconcile after those weeks and probably months of not being in good terms, and they weren't surprised that it didn't take much since they were always attached to each other.

while the rest of the Towerboys were happy for them, including her brother Jaxon, Skreamer felt that he somehow missed when they were apart, because the comfort and attention he received and gave to Jayda completed him—made him feel seen.

but Skreamer knew, he knew that all those days spent together with Jayda were just him looking out for her for Tazer's part, his best friend.
