(Noriko's pov)
The next morning I headed to school. I was still a bit angry from what happened last night but tried not to even think about it. That is until I got to my class and Temari as well as Kankuro jumped on me while apologizing frantically.
I pushed them off and gave them both annoyed looks. "What're you going on about now?" I asked with fake stupidity as I crossed my arms.
"Last night...it was wrong for our father to do that...and we thank you for standing up for us" Temari smiled gratefully. I sighed while shaking my head and raised an eyebrow. "Seriously, you guys are still on about that. The past is the past," I said acting unbothered as I waved them off dismissively.
"Where's Gaara?" I asked them concerned for his well-being as I peeked into the classroom.
"Him and Naruto went somewhere earlier," Kankuro answered, smiling. I sighed in relief, mentally thankful he didn't curl up in his depressed aura at home alone. I then looked around the room and saw Sasuke.
My eyebrow twitched angrily as I stomped up to him. I had a dark aura surrounding me causing the others to back away frightfully. He was sleeping with his forehead on his arms. I put a fake smile on as I bent down to his ears.
I took in a deep breath, then shouted, "WAKE UP!" He shot up while shaking violently. He fell out of his chair and rubbed his ear. His face cringed in pain as he angrily snapped his head up to me. "What the fuck Nori..." he growled. I smirked with my hands on my hips.
"That's what you get duck ass after leaving me alone to suffer for so long!" I complained with my arms crossed. I even puffed out my cheeks like a chipmunk.
He scoffed and sat back on his chair. "You can take care of your own goddamn self," he hissed. I raised an eyebrow, now becoming serious. "Who the hell twisted your panties?" I said with slight anger.
"Just leave me the fuck alone," he growled lowly as he put his head back down on his arms.
My eyebrow twitched in annoyance. I raised a fist to punch him but stopped as I calmed myself down and walked away to the back of the classroom. Shikamaru was already back there sleeping. I clenched my teeth together as my nails penetrated the skin of my arms in order to keep me from punching.
"What the hell is his problem?" I spat feeling seriously pissed.
"Apparently it's his family" Shika's lazy voice yawned from beside me. He sat up a little so he could face me. I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "What do you mean?" I asked. "Didn't you hear? The Uchiha Queen is sick," he answered slightly in remorse.
My eyes widen. "You mean..."
"Yea his mom...my parents went over to see if they could do anything for her but she's really sick. Sasuke's only here because his dad forced him," he said as he went back to his previous position. I looked back at Sasuke who had his head down.
Only now did I notice his hands were balled into fists.
During the whole day, I decided to give Sasuke his space. I know how much he loves his mother and to hear she's really sick is a big hit to him. I noticed Naruto trying to talk to him but he continued to ignore him.
It was lunch right now and I haven't seen the group at the table in the cafeteria. I sat in the same place where Gaara had found me near the window. I had my knees hunched up with my back against the wall while drinking some juice.
'What do I say to him? How the hell can I help him' I thought, removing the straw of the juice from my mouth.
I sighed as I put my head against the wall. "What a drag," I muttered exasperated. "Anything I can help with?" a familiar voice asked. I chuckled as I looked up at the window to see Gaara.
"How did you know I was here?" I asked. He smirked playfully and shrugged, "Guessed." He answered. I gave an airy laugh as I looked at the ground. "Thanks for standing up for me and my family last night...no one ever has." He said appreciatively.
I chuckled as I looked up at him with a smile. "What're friends for?" I said in a joking manner. He let out a ghost smile as he put his chin on his hand while leaning on the window ceil.
"So? Anything I can help with?" he inquired again.
"I don't think...you can," I said with a sad smile as I turned to face the ground.
"It's that Uchiha again, isn't it?" he asked me. "Yea..." I muttered.
"Why are you so desperate to help him if he causes you so much pain?" Gaara asked sounding confused. My lips turned into a thin line as I stood up while dusting my skirt off of any dust.
"Because," I said before turning to him with a serious face," I know he'd do the same for me." Gaara showed no expression. I patted his shoulder before walking away from him and going somewhere else.
Lunch ended and I was off to my 4th period, which I don't have with Sasuke. While walking down the hallway, a couple of people ran past me. Brushing it off as another promposal I walked at the same speed I've been going at.
'Sasuke...' my heart clenched a bit when I thought about the cold face he had given me and the harshness of his words. For once I knew that my little silly pranks wouldn't be able to help...this was beyond me.
I reached my classroom but saw people pooling out of another one nearby. My eyebrows furrowed as I walked a bit faster to see what was going on. "Hey what the hell is happening," I hollered over the loud noise inside the room.
"There's a fight!" One kid said thrilled as he faced me. "Who's fighting?" I asked puzzled. He told me the names and slowly my eyes widen.
