It's been three days since Changbin started renewing the security system of Stella's house. Since she had schedules all day and he had to follow her everywhere, the security renewal work was going slowly as he worked on it on his own. But so far, he managed to install new cameras that covered the whole house and every corner of it, even in her bedroom and walk-in closet, which Stella didn't like but Changbin convinced her. The wall surrounding the house was enforced with more cameras and motion detectors. The security sensors connected to the alarm were installed on the windows and every single opening in the house. And finally, the last step was the door locks that Changbin was working on right now.
Stella was sitting on the sofa in the living area, pretending to be reading the script in her hands for the new drama she was in talks for, but actually, she was watching Changbin working on the front door lock.
How does he manage to work nonstop like that?
For those few days since he started living with her, Stella could follow his routine easily. The few times that Stella had to wake up early, she would always find him in the garden. He would be training, meditating, jumping a rope, doing push-ups and sit-ups, or even doing a plank. There was a time that she watched him planking for freaking ten minutes straight before she got bored and walked away and he was still planking! He was no human.
He asked for permission to use her fitness training room and she allowed him. She made a huge mistake in trying to use the pull-up machine after him and she immediately regretted it once she yelped out of pain due to the elevated resistance he was using.
Once Stella's schedule starts, he follows her like an eagle. He mostly dresses in suits or plain black shirts and cargo according to the event or the location they would be in. He would stay by her side all day and when they got home, he would start working on the security system. Stella would think that he would sleep like a dead, but he had always proved her wrong cause every single morning she would wake up to find him doing his daily fitness routine from six in the morning. She had no idea where he gets that energy when he doesn't even sleep that much.
Stella also noticed that he wasn't a picky eater. He would eat whatever was served to him without asking questions or talking much. And he ate a lot. Bitna had to adjust the portions she cooked so that the boy would never leave the dining table hungry. It was cute how she would stack up his plate and he would just nod and eat it all. Stella wasn't sure if he just ate all that he was served because he was really that hungry, or he was just trying to be polite to Bitna, cause from what Stella concluded about him, he was polite to elder people and listened to them just right.
"Can you please come for a second?" Changbin called from the door.
Stella jolted. She was in her thoughts while watching him. She cleared her throat and stood up. "Ah, yes." She walked to where he was standing.
"The lock is installed. Enter a passcode and then we'll add your fingerprint for extra protection." He said and stood back to allow her to enter her passcode.
Stella knitted her brows and looked at him weirdly. "You know you should know my passcode?" She questioned. "You should have access to my house if you are going to protect me."
Changbin blinked. "I-... But I've been working here for a week and I didn't need to know your old passcode."
"Cause we were leaving and coming back together, plus, I knew we were changing the security system." She shrugged. "But since we are working together for long, you'll need to know it. You already live with me anyways, so, what's the deal with knowing my passcode?"
"I don't want to disturb you."
Stella rolled her eyes. "When did you start working with me?"
"Last Tuesday, the 13th of November," Changbin replied.
Stella turned to the lock and entered the numbers three times as it was required. She then turned to Changbin. "It's 131122." She informed him of the password. "And let's apply the same one to the other doors since I'm not good with numbers."
"A-As you wish." He stepped closer and pressed a button on the lock. The screen changed, asking for a fingerprint. "Here, save your print."
"Is that necessary? I mean, there is a passcode!"
"It's necessary in case you want to deactivate or activate the whole security system of the house. It's not only related to the lock. To make sure nobody else deactivates your system, your fingerprint will grant that only you can access the system, either it is from here or from afar." He explained.
"So, my fingerprint is connected to the locks, the cams, the detectors, and the alarm?"
Changbin nodded. "Even the blinds on the windows and the electricity inside the house."
Stella blinked. "When did you do all of that?"
"I've been working on the system for three days." He shrugged. "Luckily, the one who modeled the house made the infrastructure for such systems. It's just you who didn't know that all of your house is smart and connected to each other."
Stella chuckled and stepped forward. "Here?" She questioned before placing her thumb on the screen. Changbin nodded and she pressed it. She confirmed her print a couple of times before it was saved in the system. The screen turned black ahead of her, then it lightened up with more options, including adding another print. Changbin was about to press 'cancel' when Stella bet him to it and pressed 'next'. He looked at her weirdly. "Yours." She said.
"What?"
"Your print." She said.
"That's beyond the point of only having your print in the system!" He shook his head.
"Yeah, we need it for my protection. But you are my protection. So, I need you to have access to the system in case I wasn't able to access it." She didn't talk for more and just grabbed his right hand, pulled his thumb out, and stuck it to the screen. "Complete the process, please." She told him and then walked in again, leaving him behind.
Changbin sighed and did as she asked him. Once the lock was all settled, he closed the door and walked in. Changbin pulled Stella's personal laptop from a nearby table and went straight to her. She watched him as he sat at the very far end of the sofa and started installing some programs that he previously told her would connect her to the system.
"Here," He handed her the laptop that had its screen displaying all the footage from the cameras. "It's logged in with the default password. You will have to add a new password either here or on the mobile application." He looked at her straight in the eyes. "And please, think carefully of the password cause it gives access to all the cameras. There are cameras installed in your bedroom and closet. This password needs to be known only by you!" He talked seriously and then stood up. "I'll leave you to it. Call me if you need help." He started walking away and then stopped and sighed. He looked back at her. "Please, don't take it lightly. No one ever has to have access to your house, let alone your bedroom!"
