Changbin sighed in annoyance. He dropped his pen to his desk and flipped the binder closed. He stood up and grabbed his jacket from the hanger at the corner of his office. All along, he was ignoring the nagging of the male sitting on the sofa and not budging.
"Hey! I'm still talking. Where are you going?" He yelled.
Changbin huffed and stopped in his tracks. "You are repeating the same thing over and over again, Felix. I said no! I'm not going to work with you. I don't work with idols, actors, or any celebrities anymore. I work with officials, diplomats, ministers, and political refugees."
"You can make an exception for me! We are friends and practically a family." Felix whined and kicked his legs to the ground.
"No means no, Felix."
"You are so stiff. How does Ella keep up with your stiffness?" Felix huffed.
"You can ask her that instead of nagging and whining to me." Changbin checked his wristwatch. "But later 'cause I am late and she's waiting for me."
Felix stood up to his feet to follow Changbin outside the office. Outside, there were other two rooms occupied by Changbin's two partners in this business. It was a small apartment that served as an office where the three of them worked and planned. Not wanting to disturb the other two, especially Minho who was very jumpy, he silently exited the apartment and closed the door behind him with a soft click.
"Where are you two going for her birthday?" Felix asked. He was following Changbin to the elevator.
"Is that even a question?" He walked into the elevator and pressed the parking button.
Felix rolled his eyes. "A hospital? An orphanage? A care center?"
"An orphanage." Changbin smiled widely. Just the thought of spending the day with the kids made him feel light and giddy. It was a tradition that Stella started years ago and Changbin followed it. She would always visit one of those places on her birthdays. She would help clean, feed, organize, or even entertain people.
Although they were used to visiting different places, there was one orphanage that was the closest to their hearts.
"Minsu?" Felix questioned and Changbin's smile widened even more.
Minsu was a little girl who was only two years old. Two years before, while spending Stella's birthday at that orphanage, Minsu came. She was a newborn who was nothing more than a day or two, wrapped in a little fuzzy blanket, and having a birth bracelet around her little arm with the name 'Minsu'. She was born to a single mother with no relatives or friends, and unfortunately, that single mother didn't make it after giving birth to the little angel, so she was assigned to that orphanage.
And the little angel took Stella's and Changbin's hearts away. And from that day on, they were always there for Minsu who was now finally two years old with very cute little teeth, mixed up hardly understandable words, and an unexplained love for tripping over nothing.
"If you love kids that much, have one!" Felix snapped. "You've been together for over three years now. You are at a stage where you can have your own kids."
"We are planning to," Changbin smirked. The elevator dinged and the door opened. He started walking away towards his car.
"What?" Felix screamed and rushed after him, securing his face mask and glasses on his face. "Are you being serious?" He questioned. "Are you going to have kids? Now?"
Changbin stopped by his car and turned around to face Felix. He looked at him weirdly. "That's exactly what you asked me to do ten seconds ago."
Felix pouted. "I mean, I want you to have kids. I want you to be happy and do all you wish for. But if Stella gets pregnant now, she will definitely say no to my business proposal!"
"She had already said no." Changbin shrugged then crossed his arms and leaned his back against the side of his car to face Felix.
Felix ruffled his hair. "She said no but she could be convinced." He looked at Changbin, pushing his glasses down his nose bridge to blink at him with puppy eyes. "You can convince her."
"I'm not going to push her into something she's not willing to be part of, Felix. You know that. You know I always trust and support her decisions. If she's tired of her life now and wants something different, then she would do it without pressure."
"How would she ever get tired of her life when you two are still that lovey-dovey? Who the hell stay in the honeymoon phase for three damn years? She is so full of you and the happiest I've ever seen in my life. Of course, she is content with how she is living and won't want a change." Felix whined and Changbin's chest flared with pride.
He was proud of how he managed to keep his girl happy and content with her life.
It was a challenge for him to replace all the pain and loneliness she had with his love, and it seemed like it worked. He knew she was happy, calm, and content, so he didn't want to take that away from her. He worked hard to bring her to where she was today. He worked hard to bring her spirits back after that one concert, three years ago, when she retired from the whole industry on stage.
It was very tough on her. Her fans, her company, the public, the penalties, she had it the hard way, and he couldn't do anything except support and love her. He held her in his arms, hugged her tight, caressed her, and lulled her to sleep. He did all he could to keep her safe and protected and away from what was happening outside the safety of her house. It took long, but at last, she was back to normal and then, she was even better.
So, when Felix suggested a business, Changbin was neutral about it. If she wants it, he would support, and if not, he would also support.
It's not like Felix suggested Stella going back to singing or acting, it was something else related to the industry. He actually suggested starting a label for fostering young talents in acting and singing, a training center to be specific. A place where they would enforce the young talents till they were able to spread their wings and fly away. But then, Stella rejected the offer and Changbin didn't want to push her. And he wasn't going to do that ever.
Changbin snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Felix. "I'm still on the same ground, Felix. I'll support whatever she wants and I'm not going to shove your thoughts down her throat. The end."
Felix huffed and twirled around himself while kicking his feet to the ground as if he were some kid. "Ugh, okay, fine. You are so stiff, really."
"I'm stiff. Now, go. Get lost." He pushed him playfully. "My girl is home waiting for me and I can't be late on her birthday."
"Okay, okay," He stepped back. "Don't push. I'm leaving. Just.. tell her I love her and I miss her."
Changbin cocked an eyebrow. "You can come home with me if you miss her. You know we are heading to the orphanage, nothing private or anything."
"I know," Felix smiled. "But it's better if you two spend the night as you prepared." He smirked devilishly. "And I'm sure you planned something else, other than a simple orphanage visit." He wiggled his brows.
Changbin's face blushed a little as he ruffled his hair awkwardly. "I have something," He mumbled. "but it's not a big deal."
"Huh! I knew you prepared something. What is it? Hm? What?" Felix clapped and jumped in the air.
"You'll know tomorrow morning anyway. You know she'll call you right away and tell you whatever happens." Changbin scoffed.
"My Ella isn't good with keeping secrets." Felix chuckled.
"Whatever, go now." Changbin stepped back, opened his car door, and hopped in.
"See you later!" Felix waved and walked away to his car.
Changbin breathed in after closing the door. He reached his hand out to the drawer by the passenger's seat and opened it to pull a file that was sealed on the documents in it. He looked at it with determined yet nervous eyes before placing it on the seat, hoping that she would like his gift.
