Chapter 14 Run..... Again

Y/N quickly runs over to Mimi, grabbing her hand. "We have to move, now!"

Y/N starts running towards the exit sign, half dragging Mimi behind as Gabumon and Palmon follow quickly behind

Omni Zwart opens his red eyes glowing in the darkness it was hiding in, it floats slowly into the light sword drawn. You look over your shoulder and make brief eye contact with Omni Zwart as it becomes mostly revelled by the light. It lifts its sword and points it towards you all as you crash through the fire exit.

Mimi manages to match your running speed, keeping a hold of your hand as you continue down the long semi semi-light hallway

"Y/N, what is that?"

"I'll tell you later, keep running, don't look back." You respond

Mimi looks over her shoulder, back to the open doorway, Omni Zwart's head appears in the doorway, red eyes glaring daggers.

Mimi screams in horror as she speeds up even more. You hear a thud and a whimper behind you, quickly glancing over your shoulder. You see Palmon lying face-first on the floor

"Keep running! I'll get Palmon"

You quickly turn around, racing back to Palmon, crouching down. You pick her up, giving her a piggyback. You hear the footsteps of your friends getting further away towards turn in the hallway.  Looking back on the way you'd just come from, Omni Zwart's face had disappeared. You breathe a sigh of relief, thinking for a moment you might have gotten a reprieve. That's when you wished you'd just started running, the dark metal Guaruromon lowers down into the doorway. Eyes wide, you start running again, Palmon holding on tightly. Watching your friends turn the corner. You hear a thud of air, then a hiss as the canon starts to emerge.

"Shit, shit, shit, shit." You say to yourself through gritted teeth.

Gabumon and Mimi both poke their heads around the corner, horrified looks on both of their faces.

"Keep going!" Y/N shouts at them both

Getting closer and closer to the turn, you dread hearing what's coming next, you just hope you can make it in time

"Supreme Cannon!!"

The hallway vibrates as the canon starts building up power

Throwing yourself sideways, the canon speeds through the hallway, cracking parts of the walls around it with its speed. It explodes when it hits the wall at the far end of the hallway, the wave of energy thundering down the next hallway, Mimi and Gabumon both brace themselves as it whips past them, Mimi's hair dancing as it does.

Debris falls onto Palmon and You, tiny fragments of rock raining down, as the dust clouds kick up. The stone wall where the canon hit is now nonexistent, a narrowing crater goes through the dirt until nothing is left of it.

You groan, ears ringing as you feel the weight of Palmon being lifted from your back, pushing yourself up, you get to your knees. You see Gabumon standing in front of you, one of Palmons's arms around his neck holding her up.

Y/N gives Gabumon a small reassuring smile before exhaling in relief. Looking up at Mimi, you can still see the fear etched on her face. You try and do the same reassuring smile to her

"Y/N what in the hell is going on?" She points back to where you'd all just come from."That was Omnimon, why did it look like that? He was trying to kill us?"

Y/N stands up, still looking at Mimi "It's a long story, Mimi, it's pretty much been my existence here since I healed. Yes, that is Omnimon or was Omnimon."

You run your hands through your hair, knocking debris and dust out

"Something is happening to the digital world, Digimon are getting viruses that are corrupting them, making them lose control. I thought it was all randomly happening, but I'm now thinking that voice has something to do with all this"

Mimi looks back at you with a blank expression. You could see the gears in her head trying to process everything.

"You've been fighting this all alone?" She asks softly

"I wouldn't call it fighting, but surviving for sure" You look down at Gabumon who half smiles back and nods in response. Looking back to Mimi

"There's been a lot of close calls, but we've scraped by"

"Y/N...... I'm so sorry you've been doing this alone, if any of us knew you were alive we would have tried to come back"

"It's fine, Mimi. You guys were all safe, I didn't even think any of you could get back here"

You both smile at one another, not saying anything

"Can we get out of here?" Palmon weakly asks

Mimi and Y/N look at the Digmon and nod. Gabumon and Palmon walk on first, Palmon still leaning on him for support, Mimi, and you follow on.

The sound of everyone's footsteps echoes through the hallway, having no idea where the path will take them.
