Mara P.O.V

I made my way off the trail, throwing the bag over my shoulder to begin my journey on foot. I strolled through the city, watching as people walked with their family and friends, sometimes just by themselves. I nodded to a merchant on the side of the street as I continued the path. I sighed knowing I had a long journey ahead of me.

Some hours later, I made it to the outskirts of town and made way for the woods. Soon Kuragari, I promise.. I'll be there soon and we'll be together again. I couldn't help but play into this hopeful fantasy that maybe he was back, finally home after all this time. The path to get there was embedded in my braid as I stepped over a fallen tree and weaved my way through some vines that hung low from a tree.

Without noticing I grabbed one of the vines and pulled on it to move it. A small hiss erupts in my ear. I huff under my breath before throwing it behind me. I smirked watching it flee into some bushes. This is going to be a long trip...That I'm sure of... I sighed out tiredly.

I groaned as I pushed aside some more bushes and flinched as a branch slapped me in the face, harshly I might add. I wiped the small trickle of blood that I felt slide down my cheek before proceeding. I've been walking for two days. Stopping every once in a while to sleep and eat. I stopped in my tracks as I pulled aside the last bush and looked ahead seeing the old meadow and smiled softly. I'm finally here! Kuragari! I'm here! I grew excited and started running as fast as my legs would allow me. I jumped with adrenaline as I started to approach the other section of the meadow. The ones where the trees started to die, where the flowers were shriveled up and laid dead on the ground from lack of sun. I came to the opening of the small ledge and sat down, pushing myself down into the darkness. I squealed out in glee pushing myself to slide down even faster. Nothing but darkness all around, but only laughed more as I knew I was getting close, my eyes adjusted to the darkness rather quickly before reaching the bottom of the makeshift slide and sprung up throwing my arms up in the air.

"KURAGARI! I'm home! I'm back!" I cheered my greetings with the brightest of smiles. I falter in my happiness, looking around, not seeing anything. I felt my smile waver but didn't let it fall completely.
"Come on, Kuragari, It's me. Mara!" I waited for some sort of indication of life.
"Seriously, Kuragari, I know you're here." I tried with feign positivity. I still heard nothing and felt my smile fall completely. I shook my head to myself and continued to walk around the cave in desperate hopes. I felt my whole hope pick up when I heard a small noise coming from the back of the cave. I beamed as I ran full speed towards find him in his hiding spot. I rounded the corner and stopping in my tracks, my smile once again falling from my face. I looked down at the small family of rats and frowned as they coward away from me. Tears sting my eyes as I turned around and continued looking.
"Please, Kuragari. It's me. I-I'm sorry I didn't come back sooner...I was just sad you left." I explained in a pathetic attempt while scanning over the cave futilely. My tears growing the more frustrated I got not finding him.
"Kuragari.. I'm sorry... Please!" I wiped the wetness from my cheeks roughly. Realizing that Kurgari wasn't here, nor was he ever going to be. I wiped my eyes harshly as I slammed my fist into a boulder next to me, causing it to crack.
"Kuragari! Why did you even leave to begin with?! I wasn't that bad, was I?!" I yelled out as I turned around and punched some more boulders. My vision blurred as I swung aimlessly.
"KURGARI!!!" My eyes widened as I felt something jolt in me, only getting angrier for even noticing it. I felt more and more energy coursing throughout me as I also felt my anger rise at dangerous levels, as I continued to punch and kick more boulders.
"WHAT WAS THE POINT OF TAKING ME IN IF YOU WERE JUST GOING TO LEAVE ME?!" I screamed out in anger as something crashed down on my head. I growled while looking up, I saw some small rocks falling from the top of the cave. This only sets me off further.
"YOUR JUST AS BAD OF MY PARENTS WERE!! You abandoned me just like they did!! Only at least they didn't pretend to care!" More rocks from above rained down, some growing in size and threatening to crush me. Mara, you need to calm down...You're losing control of the power... I stopped for a moment at the voice, the feeling of overflowing magic ceasing for just a moment.
"Who are you!" I yelled in a frenzy, feeling the overflow once more. I seeth out viciously, pulverizing one of the rocks that endangered me from above. Another one right behind it, knocking me in the head. I only grow more furious at this, pulling myself up from the ground as something begins to drip down my face. My left eye's vision blurred causing me to wipe my face. I flinched, pulling my hand away. Blood. I growled and punched a boulder into pieces as it was about to fall on me. What did I tell you? You need to control it, not it control you. I rolled my eyes and scoffed.
"What would you know?! Why would you care?!" I retort wildly, punching more boulders around me in a rage. Who I am doesn't matter right now, what does matter is you controlling the power. Mara, you cannot let it control you. Believe me, I know, just please... Stop...
