The day started as any other had for the past few weeks. Cassy and Lando were filled with a mixture of anticipation and excitement, knowing that the arrival of their baby was only a few days away. They had just returned from their latest check-up with the doctor, who had assured them that everything was progressing well.
Lando laced up his running shoes, preparing for his morning jog. He leaned down and kissed Cassy on the forehead. "I won't be long. Enjoy your breakfast, okay?"
Cassy smiled, her hand resting on her growing belly. "Be safe, Lando. I'll have breakfast ready when you get back."
---
Lando jogged through the quiet streets of Monaco, enjoying the cool morning air. He was lost in thoughts about their upcoming life as parents when his phone rang. Seeing Charles's name on the screen, he quickly answered.
"Hey, Charles. What's up?"
Charles's voice was filled with panic. "Lando, it's Alexandra. She had an incident, and I don't know who else to call. I need some help, man."
Lando's heart rate spiked, not just from the exercise. "What happened? Is she okay?"
"I'm not sure. She fell while we were out biking. We're at the hospital now. Can you come?"
Without hesitation, Lando turned back toward the apartment. "I'll be there as soon as I can. Hang in there, Charles."
---
Back at the apartment, Cassy was finishing up breakfast preparations. She had set the table and was just about to pour some orange juice when she got Lando's message about Charles and Alexandra. Quickly, she slipped into her shoes and headed out, not wanting to waste any time.
As she stepped out onto the street, a sharp pain shot through her abdomen. She stopped, gasping as the sensation intensified. Suddenly, she felt a warm gush of fluid between her legs. Her water had broken.
Cassy looked around, her mind racing. She had left her phone in the apartment. Panic set in as she realized she had no way to contact Lando or anyone else.
---
Seeing her distress, several passersby rushed to her aid. One kind woman, a mother herself, quickly took charge.
"Sweetheart, are you okay? Is it the baby?"
Cassy nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. "Yes, my water just broke. I need to get to the hospital."
The woman and a few others helped Cassy into a nearby car, and within minutes, they were on their way to the hospital. Cassy's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and fears. She prayed that everything would be okay and that Lando would somehow find out what was happening.
---
At the hospital, the staff quickly took over. Cassy was wheeled into the maternity ward, where Dr. Morgan examined her and checked the baby's position.
"Cassy, I'm afraid the baby is in a breech position, which means we need to perform an emergency C-section. We need to act fast."
Cassy's heart pounded in her chest. "Can you call my boyfriend, Lando Norris? He needs to be here. Please, I need him."
The nurse nodded and hurried to make the call while the medical team prepared for surgery.
---
At the other hospital with Charles, Lando's phone rang again. Seeing the hospital's number, he answered immediately.
"Mr. Norris, this is Nurse Ellie from the maternity ward. Cassy is here, and she's in labor. We need to perform an emergency C-section. You need to come right away."
Lando's world stopped. "I'm on my way."
He turned to Charles, his face pale. "Charles, I have to go. Cassy's in labor, and they need to do an emergency C-section."
Charles nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "Go, Lando. I'll be fine here. Give Cassy my best."
Lando ran out of the hospital, flagging down a taxi. "To the maternity ward, quickly!"
---
Back in the hospital, Cassy was being prepped for surgery. She lay on the table, terrified and alone, wishing more than anything that Lando could be there with her.
Dr. Morgan leaned over her, trying to comfort her. "You're in good hands, Cassy. We'll take care of you and your baby."
The surgical team worked quickly, administering the anesthesia and preparing for the incision. Cassy closed her eyes, trying to focus on the thought of holding her baby soon.
---
Lando burst into the hospital, racing through the corridors to the maternity ward. He found Nurse Ellie, who quickly briefed him.
"They've already started the surgery, Mr. Norris. She's in good hands. Please, come this way."
Lando was led to the observation area, where he could see Cassy through the glass. He pressed his hand against the window, willing her to feel his presence.
---
Inside the operating room, the doctors worked efficiently. After what felt like an eternity, Dr. Morgan lifted a tiny, wailing baby from Cassy's womb.
"It's a girl," she announced, her voice filled with relief and joy.
Cassy, though exhausted and still under the effects of the anesthesia, managed a weak smile. "A girl..."
The nurse cleaned and swaddled the baby before bringing her over to Cassy. "Meet your daughter, Cassy."
Tears streamed down Cassy's face as she looked at her daughter for the first time. "She's perfect."
---
Lando was finally allowed into the room once Cassy was moved to recovery. He rushed to her side, tears in his eyes as he saw their baby girl in her arms.
"Cassy, she's beautiful," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion.
Cassy looked up at him, her face glowing with joy and relief. "We did it, Lando. She's here."
Lando kissed her forehead gently, then looked at their daughter. "Welcome to the world, little one."
