The scent of antiseptic and the low hum of hospital machinery were constants in Dr. Thyme Allister's world. He moved through the halls of St. Raphael's Hospital with purpose, his white coat flowing behind him like a cape. Thyme was a dedicated physician, known for his compassion and expertise, but today, his thoughts were elsewhere.

His mind wandered back to Room 314, where a young man named Kavin Thorne had been under his care for the past few weeks. Kavin had been admitted with a severe case of pneumonia that had taken a toll on his body. Despite his illness, Kavin's spirit had never wavered. His infectious smile and positive attitude had a way of lighting up even the most sterile hospital room.

Thyme had seen countless patients in his career, but there was something about Kavin that captivated him. He found himself looking forward to his rounds, eager for their conversations and the way Kavin's eyes sparkled with mischief and warmth. It was a feeling Thyme hadn't experienced in a long time, a growing affection that both thrilled and terrified him.

As Thyme approached Kavin's room, he took a deep breath, steadying his nerves. Today was the day Kavin would be discharged. His recovery had been remarkable, and he was finally well enough to go home. But the thought of not seeing him every day left a hollow ache in Thyme's chest.

He knocked lightly on the door before pushing it open. Kavin was sitting up in bed, his eyes bright as he watched a comedy on the small television mounted on the wall. When he saw Thyme, his face broke into a wide grin.

"Hey, Doc! Ready to kick me out of here?" Kavin joked, his voice no longer strained by the cough that had plagued him.

Thyme smiled, feeling a flutter in his chest. "Looks like it. How are you feeling today, Kavin?"

"Like a million bucks," Kavin replied, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. "Thanks to you."

Thyme's heart swelled with pride. "It was a team effort. You did most of the work by staying strong and positive."

Kavin shrugged, his eyes twinkling. "Still, I couldn't have done it without you. You've been amazing, Thyme."

Thyme's breath hitched at the sound of his name spoken with such affection. He cleared his throat, trying to maintain his professional demeanor. "I'm just glad you're better. You'll need to take it easy for a while, but I have no doubt you'll be back to your old self in no time."

Kavin nodded, his gaze lingering on Thyme. "I'll miss our talks, you know. You made being here bearable."

Thyme's heart pounded in his chest. This was his chance. If he didn't say something now, he might never get the opportunity. He took a step closer, his voice softening. "Kavin, there's something I need to tell you."

Kavin's brow furrowed in concern. "What is it, Thyme?"

Thyme took a deep breath, summoning all his courage. "I know this might seem unprofessional, but... I've developed feelings for you. I didn't plan for it to happen, but I can't ignore it anymore. I care about you, Kavin. A lot."

Kavin's eyes widened in surprise, his mouth opening and closing as he processed Thyme's words. For a moment, the room was silent, the tension thick enough to cut with a scalpel. Then, slowly, a smile spread across Kavin's face.

"You have no idea how happy I am to hear that," Kavin said, his voice filled with emotion. "I've been feeling the same way, but I didn't know how to tell you. I was afraid it would be inappropriate or that you wouldn't feel the same."

Relief and joy flooded Thyme's heart. He closed the distance between them, taking Kavin's hands in his. "You don't know how much it means to hear you say that. I've been struggling with this for weeks."
