Devraj arrived in the city with a sense of finality. The weight of his decision pressed down on him, but he was determined to ensure a smooth transition of power. His first stop was the imperial palace, a stark contrast to the warmth of his ancestral home.

His PA, Mr. Kapoor, a seasoned veteran of the imperial administration, greeted him with a mixture of respect and concern. "Your Highness, the empire is in a state of flux. The absence of a clear leader has led to some unrest," Kapoor reported, his voice low.

Devraj nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "I need a detailed report on the current state of affairs," he said, his voice firm. "I want to know about every department, every project, and every potential threat."

Kapoor bowed his head. "It will be ready by tomorrow morning, Your Highness."

Over the next few days, Devraj immersed himself in the labyrinthine workings of the empire. He met with ministers, generals, and ambassadors, his sharp mind absorbing information at an astonishing rate. In each meeting, he laid out his plans for the future, emphasizing the importance of unity and stability.

"We are at a crossroads, gentlemen," he told the ministers. "The empire faces unprecedented challenges. We must unite as one, putting aside our differences for the greater good."

The generals listened intently as he outlined his defense strategy. "Our borders must be impenetrable," he declared. "We need to modernize our army, equip them with the latest technology. And most importantly, we need to foster a sense of loyalty and patriotism among our soldiers."

Devraj's attention then turned to the financial aspect of the empire. He scheduled a meeting with the chief banker. "I want to transfer the ownership of all imperial accounts to Yuvraj," he announced, without preamble. "He will be the sole signatory."

The banker's eyes widened in surprise. "Your Highness, are you sure about this? You are the rightful heir."

Devraj smiled grimly. "My brother is more than capable of handling the empire's finances. This is a matter of trust, and I trust him implicitly."

The banker nodded, understanding the weight of Devraj's decision. "It will be done, Your Highness," he assured him.

As the days turned into weeks, Devraj worked tirelessly, transferring power bit by bit. He signed countless documents, delegated responsibilities, and mentored Yuvraj from afar. With each passing day, his grip on the empire loosened, but his determination to ensure a seamless transition remained unwavering.

A month later, Devraj returned to the estate, a sense of accomplishment and weariness etched on his face. He presented Yuvraj with a thick bundle of documents. "This contains everything," he said, his voice heavy with emotion. "Every policy, every agreement, every financial detail. Study it carefully, Yuvraj. If there's anything you want to change, anything you disagree with, don't hesitate to tell me."

Yuvraj nodded, his eyes wide with the enormity of the task. "I won't let you down, Dev," he promised, his voice steady.

Devraj placed a comforting hand on his brother's shoulder. "I know you won't," he said, his voice filled with pride. "But remember, this is your empire now. Rule it wisely, and with compassion."

As the day of their departure drew near, Devraj proposed an introduction party. "We need to introduce you to the people," he explained to Yuvraj. "It's important for them to see their future king."

Yuvraj agreed, but a thought occurred to him. "We should take Anika with us," he suggested. "She's never seen the city."

Devraj hesitated. "Mother won't agree to it," he said, his voice filled with concern. "And it's not appropriate for an unmarried woman to travel with another man."
