Elizabeth was sat in a cold room. It was small and there wasn't much furniture in it other than a small desk and three chairs, one on one side and two on the other.
They had brought her here to talk to someone. But no one had showed up.
She sat and waited. They always made her wait. Despite everything she had done for them. Everything she had always done.
Her legs were too small to reach the floor from the chair she was sat on, which was obviously designed for a bigger human than young Elizabeth. Then the door suddenly opened, Elizabeth looked up to see two teenagers around her age. They both had dark hair, but the boy had a warm gaze and chocolate brown eyes whereas the girl had striking blue irises that intimidated Elizabeth. Although that made her like the girl already.
The pair sat down. They clearly already knew each other.
Dr Paige had left them in. She was smiling. She seemed excited.
"I'll leave you three to get familiar with each other." She beamed before closing the door.
The two brunettes looked at her expectantly, waiting for her to speak.
"How long have you two known eachother?" Elizabeth asked.
The girl sat straight, "How do you know we already knew eachother?"
"The way they've set out the chairs," Elizabeth gestured to how the two of them were sat on one side of the table together and herself alone on the other, "And they brought you two in together with only one guard and I can just tell."
An impressed smile crept onto the girls face, "Observant." She commented, nodding.
Elizabeth wondered if either of the two were going to answer the question she had asked and then the boy spoke up.
"Only a few days." He told her.
She nodded in reply.
"What are your names?" Elizabeth asked.
"Thomas."
"Teresa. Yours?"
"Elizabeth."
"Elizabeth is a long name," The girl huffed, "I thought Teresa was bad."
"Can I call you El?" Thomas asked shyly.
"If you want," Elizabeth accepted, "And I'll call you Tom."
"Does anyone call you Eliza?" Teresa asked.
Elizabeth shook her head.
"Hmm," Teresa pondered, "Eliza is too common. I think I'll call you... Liza."
"And I'll call you Tess."
Elizabeth knew they were all mature for their age. They had to be. The constant puzzled and mind games that were forced on them made them so. But for a second, while it was just the three of them in the small room, they could be kids again.
