After I finished the bag of fluids, I was faintly able to get my things from my house.
He parks his car, attempting to get out.
"Wow, what are you doing?" I ask him, anxious.
"Helping you? You have one working arm, Meredith." He is practically rolling his eyes at my stubbornness.
I didn't even know if my dad was home. What would I walk in on?
As if sensing my discomfort.
"It will be okay. I'm not going to judge or anything; I'm just here to help you." He says his voice slightly whimpering, pleading with me.
"Fine," I say, quickly getting out of his car.
I get my keys out of my backpack and walk to the door, my heart practically beating out of my chest.
I open the door expecting the worst and do not see my dad anywhere in sight. Huge mess everywhere.
Edison walks in, and I can see his concern laced in his eyes as he glances at all the patches of holes in the walls.
"I'm going to go get my things," I say quietly, waking up in my room. My dad must have trashed my room in retaliation. I sigh, grabbing a couple of bags and shoving my things in them. I grabbed my photo album of my mom last.
"Okay. That's it." I am holding two bags and a photo album.
"That's all?" he asks, curious.
"Yep, that's everything," I said, glancing at my room one last time.
"Alright, I'm going to drop you off and take care of something. I'll pick you up later so you can join everyone for dinner." He tells me as we walk to the car, buckling in.
"Oh, that's alright, Edison. Just go enjoy dinner with your friends; you don't have to take me." I say it with a small smile. The concept of counting on somebody completely foreign to me is almost natural.
"Meredith I didn't phrase that as a question. You will be joining us for dinner. Besides, everyone needs to eat." He tells me:
"Edison, I need to start saving for somewhere to rent," I tell him carefully.
"Two things. Firstly, I invited you. Why would you pay for your food? Secondly, you shouldn't be in a hurry to leave. It makes me more comfortable having a close eye on you." He tells me this slightly sternly.
"Okay, is what I'm wearing right now okay?" I ask him.
His eyes move up and down my body.
"Perfect." He tells me, "
Mumbling "così dannatamente mozzafiato"
{so fucking breathtaking}
"What did you say?" I ask him, arching my brow.
"Oh, nothing bellissima," he smirked, seeing my agitation.
{beautiful}
We pull to his house.
Parking his car, he takes my bags from me, and I'm left carrying my family photo album.
He dropped the bags off in the room I stayed in.
"Unpack your bags, Mer, while I'm gone. Relax," he tells me before heading out of the room.
It had been a couple of hours since he left, and I had unpacked my clothes like he told me. I'm sure to make the place look nicer than my two bags sprawled across the floor.
I decided I'd make double chocolate chip muffins for everyone at work, as I was bored out of my mind.
I hate being still.
I'm softly singing while listening to my music from my iPod. When I pulled the muffins out of the oven, it was around 6:30. I wondered what he had to do. I continue singing, hearing slow claps. I turn around. Seeing Dexter and Edison staring at me.
I shriek
"What the heck, how long have you been standing there?" I asked in horror, bringing about the singing I was doing. Yanking my headphones out of my ears.
"Long enough, I didn't know you could sing," Edison says with a chuckle.
"What are you doing?" he asks.
I realized I didn't ask if I could use his things.
"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry. One second." I say, holding up my pointer finger.
I grab my wallet from my back pocket.
Holding my wallet.
"No. Whatever you are thinking about doing, put your wallet back in your pocket right now." He tells me sternly.
Dexter just laughs.
"Meredith, I thought Jermery told you to relax." He scolds lightly.
"He might have mentioned it, I guess," I say softly, getting embarrassed.
"I'm pretty sure I also told you to relax before I left." He tells me softly, glaring at me.
I make the blah-blah sound with my hand, rolling my eyes dramatically.
"I'm not helpless," I tell him I am slightly annoyed.
"I know you aren't, but you need to rest your body to heal," Edison replied.
"I will say they look delicious. Did you make them for Monday?" Dexter asked me, looking at the muffins with hunger.
He reaches down to eat one.
I lightly smacked his hand once. "You will wait, mister," I tell him.
He smirks at me. "Fair enough."
"Are you ready?" Edison asks me.
"Yes, I am." I mean shutting off the oven.
"Alright, come on then." Edison is gesturing for me to follow him and Dexter.
I followed behind them. In their shadow, as they walked quickly, their strides were difficult to catch up with walking to the car.
"Where are we even going?" I ask, sitting in the back seat, and bucking in.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Dexter teased.
"Well, obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have asked," I say sassy.
"Ohh, someone feeling extra sassy today?" Edison asked, playing along.
"I am not sassy," I say, rolling my eyes.
"Oh, really, what do you call that?" Dexter teased me by looking into the rearview mirror at me.
I glare at him.
"You don't even know what sassy is," I tell him, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Oh really? I don't. Well, I beg to differ, Meredith." Edison says
"So you aren't going to tell me where we are going?" I ask them.
"Perhaps if you say the magic word," Dexter says
"Oh right, can you please tell me where we are going?" I ask with a small smile.
