"Im assuming that means you guys, not me?" I ask, looking at Dexter's unique grey eyes looking at me.
"Well, we have to all be on the same page," Dexter explained nonchalantly.
"Oh, I guess that makes sense," I replied back nonchalantly. Finally noticing the stack of papers, I looked over at them.
"You know it would be smart for your company to pull out your stocks. You progressively lose the same amount of money every quarter," I say, tilting my head and reading the paperwork.
"What do you mean?" Edison asks me, looking at me with serious eyes.
"Well, the stocks you have the company invested in lose pretty much the same amount every quarter." I say, pointing at the paperwork.
"You did that in your head?" Alex is slightly puzzled.
"Yes, anyway, every quarter, the stock you are invested in for Penelton decreases by 2.3 million. So pull your stock every quarter. Well, you should; it's not my business. But logically, it is the best business decision." I say it awkwardly, getting off Dexter's lap.
Jeremy blinks for a bit with a small chuckle. "Not going to lie, that's impressive."
I shrug. "There are lots of things I'm good at; doing mental math is just one of them," I say with a chuckle, gathering their trash.
"What else are you good at?" Edison asks me, looking at me with his beautiful sky-blue eyes pumping through my soul.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" I say it with a teasing tone.
Throwing away the trash.
Alex says, "Actually, I'm curious myself." His hazel eyes look at me intently.
"Well, I suppose you just have to find out slowly when the moment approaches," I say, avoiding the intimidating eyes.
Dexter says. "Hmm, I like a good challenge. I bet I can find out stuff you are good at with a little research," he says with a smirk, not saying another word.
Jeremy asks, "Edison, is everyone still coming over for the football game?"
"Yeah, here in like 2 hours," Edison replied.
I lick my lips, feeling the skin dry.
Alex says, "Please do not do that." He says his eyes slightly on what appears to be lustful.
I lick my lips once again, looking directly at him.
"That?" I ask as innocently as possible.
"Definitely, yes," Edison says.
"Hmm. I'll try not to," I say, walking away to the living room where Dexter had walked off, looking deep in concentration at his laptop.
I sit beside him, glancing at his screen briefly.
"You know it's not worth your time looking for anything about me," I see, looking at his search history.
"Oh bellissima, I'm definitely going to find something, even if it is scholastic. You won't say, so I'll just see what I can find on my own." Dexter says
Making my eyes widen.
" scholastic? Um, nah, you won't find anything there," I say, carefully trying to lie confidently.
He glances at me, staring at me.
"Are you lying?" he asked me.
The others finally made their way back into the living room after I had left them.
"What's going on?" Jeremy ask.
"That's what I'm trying to figure out," Dexter replied, his eyes still not having left me.
I gulp on my spit.
"What was the question?" I ask with a small smile, trying to lace my question with confusion to make it more believable.
"Don't play Coy," Edison says sternly.
I knew if he could read me so easily, the others could too.
"I was lying, but for good reason," I say quickly.
"What reason?" Alex asked, arching his brow at me.
"Well, I don't want you to look at anything scholastic," I say.
"That's not a good enough reason to lie to me, Meredith. You can be honest with me, and I'll consider your request." Dexter replied.
"What's rule 3?" Jeremy asked suddenly.
I know exactly where this was going, but i didn't think they'd be so serious about it.
When I didn't respond
Edison says, "That wants a rhetorical question, Meredith," he says slightly sternly.
I sigh to myself softly, not realizing the hole I was already burying myself in.
"Rule number 3 is no lying," I replied carefully, avoiding their dominating gazes.
"Go get a paper and a pen," Dexter says. Looking seriously.
I nod quickly, getting up. Before he grabs my arm.
"What are you supposed to say to me?" he asked.
I look at him.
"Yes, sir," I say softly, glancing at him quickly.
"Good girl, now go get what I asked for," he tells me.
Turning his attention back to his laptop.
I whisper to him, "I don't know where any paper is." I explain it to him in a hushed tone.
"Well, why don't you ask?" Jeremy asks, hearing me.
I look at Edison, whose stare is intense, and walk up to him carefully.
"May you please show me where the paper and pens are?" I plead with him.
He gets up and gestures for me to follow him. I do walk in his shadow cast on the ground.
He hands me a spiral notebook and a couple of pens.
"Here you go, Tesoro," he says with a small smile.
{sweetie}
"Thank you," I say carefully.
"Come over here, Meredith," Dexter says.
I hesitantly walk over to him.
He looks up from his computer.
"I want you to handwrite all your rules down. After that, we'll go from there based on how many you get wrong or forget." Dexter explains
I set a pillow on the ground and sat down, which made it much easier to write.
I open the spiral notebook and pull the cap off the pen, setting it to the side.
I began the task.

My hand was slightly cramping.
I close it, sliding the lid back on the pen.
I rest my hands on the journal.
"Are you done?" Alex asks me, leaning close to my ear.
I nod, staring at the TV.
Before it is paused
"Show me what you wrote," Dexter says, holding his hand out.
I pick the journal up and place it in his hand.
"Well, you got the order wrong on some of them, but they are all there," Dexter replies.
"If they are all there, then Meredith, you broke another rule. You do not nod; you say what." Edison asked me if the TV still paused.
"Yes, sir," I say to him.
"Now say it to Alex; he asked you the question," Edison says, his voice slightly stern.
I turn around slightly, looking at Alex.
"Yes, sir, I am finished with writing down all the rules," I say with a small smile.
He smirks.
"Hmm, very good," he says before leaning back.
Jermery says
"Honestly, I'm surprised you didn't forget any because you only read it today."
"Well, I had her write down the rules, so now there isn't an excuse that I didn't know it or remember because she did," Dexter says.
"Writing out the rules was your first punishment for lying; it is pretty light but effective. I definitely don't think writing rules will happen very often, so I wouldn't get used to it." Dexter continues.
Remembering rule 10 about thanking after correction.
I look at him, typing away.
I wonder if I should or not count this as a correction.
I lightly tap his knee to get his attention.
"Sì piccola," Decter says, looking down at me as I still have it on the floor.
{yes baby}
I look down awkwardly.
"Thank you," I say quickly, slightly embarrassed.
His fingers pulled my gaze up to meet his.
"What are you thanking me for?" He asked me, arching his brow, slightly intimidating me.
"Thank you for correcting me," I say, unsure.
He chuckles slightly.
"You welcome Piccola; it's my job," he says, his voice husky.
{baby}
He looks at me and softly kisses my lips.
Pulling away.
I feel my hair being softly brushed with someone's fingers, and I look behind me and see Jermery softly brushing my hair.
Eventually, my back hurts in the uncomfortable position, and I get up. Edison looks at me and smirks, lightly tapping his lap silently, asking me to go over and sit in his lap.
I make slow steps over to him, softly sitting down. The gentle touches are almost unfamiliar to my body.
Once I sit down in his lap, he softly brings me to his chest.
I smelled his cologne, which was nice on the nose.
"What does that word mean that you said to me earlier?" I ask Edison, looking at him.
"What word?" he asked me, looking down at me.
I think back.
"It started with a T.?" I say unsure.
His eyes lit up in realization as to what I was asking.
"Tesoro?" he asks
"Yes, that's it," I say, slightly excited that he knew what I was talking about.
"Sweetie," Edison says with a smile before kissing my cheek.
"What about Piccola?" I ask him.
He looks a little taken aback.
He smirks and says "say that again", he softly demands
"Piccolo" I say questioningly.
"It's slang for Baby." I hear Dexter say from the other side of room looking from his laptop.
Alex is watching TV, and Jeremy is scrolling on his phone.
Edison softly rubs the top of my thigh. I feel his lips softly touch my neck. Sending shivers down my spine at the unfamiliar feeling.
