The scenes are intercut with each others reactions and Deanna's probing questions, designed to understand who they are and how they've survived.

Deanna begins, talking to Rick, in a room filled with books and a camera recording the conversation, "I was a congresswoman before all this. I've met a lot of different people, but none like you. You're the kind of people we need here."

"We've done things...to survive. Whatever it takes."

Deanna leans forward, voice calm, "And you'll find that survival here doesn't require the same things. But I understand, Rick. This place can be yours, too, if you let it."

"I have one Question Deanna, Why?"
