He gave a slow nod, though his eyes still carried a touch of sadness. "Yeah, I hope so too. It might take a bit to adjust, but I'm sure we can work through it."

We sat in silence for a moment, the weight of the conversation hanging between us. I could tell that Jake needed some time to process everything, and I wanted to give him space if he needed it.

"Do you want to stay and talk more, or do you need some time alone?" I asked gently.

Jake looked at me with a faint smile. "I think I'll head back to my room for now. I just need some time to think things over."

"Of course," I replied, standing up to see him out. "Thanks again for understanding, Jake. I really value our friendship, and I hope we can get through this."

As Jake opened the door to leave, Heeseung was standing right outside, about to knock. Jake's expression was a mixture of resignation and pain.

"I had a feeling you'd say something like that," Jake said quietly, his voice tinged with sorrow. "And I think I know why. Still, I kept hoping..."

With that, Jake brushed past Heeseung, bumping into him slightly as he left. Heeseung's face darkened with a mixture of frustration and hurt.

"What's going on between you two?" Heeseung demanded, his voice sharp with unrestrained jealousy. The tension between us was palpable, and it was clear that Heeseung's emotions were on edge.

Heeseung's eyes flashed with frustration as he confronted me. "Is there something between you and Jake? And what did Jungwon want to talk to you about yesterday?"

I felt a surge of anxiety at his abrupt questions. "Heeseung, let's please talk inside. We can work this out," I said, reaching out to take his hand in an attempt to calm the situation.

But Heeseung pulled his hand away, his expression a mix of hurt and agitation. "I just need to know," he said, brushing past me and stepping into the room.

I followed him, closing the door behind us and trying to find the right words. "Heeseung, please, just listen."

Heeseung's voice trembled with a mix of frustration and hurt as he spoke. "I try not to overthink things, but I'm not blind. I can see that Jake wants more from you... and it seems like you're not doing anything to stop it. I thought we felt the same way about each other." His eyes locked onto mine, filled with an intense pain and confusion.

The weight of his words hung heavily in the air between us. I could see the hurt and betrayal in his gaze, and it broke my heart to know that I had contributed to his feelings of confusion.

"Heeseung," I began softly, trying to bridge the gap that had formed between us. "It's not that simple. Jake's feelings are genuine, but I told him clearly that I only see him as a friend. I never meant to lead him on."

Heeseung's eyes were filled with unshed tears, and he looked away momentarily, struggling to maintain his composure. "I just... I thought we had something special. I feel like I'm losing you to someone else, and it hurts so much."

I took a step closer, my heart aching at the sight of his pain. "Heeseung, you mean so much to me. This situation is difficult, and I never wanted to hurt you. I'm still figuring out how to navigate everything, but my feelings for you are real. I don't want you to feel like you're losing me."

Heeseung's gaze softened slightly, though the hurt remained evident. "I want to believe you, Chloe. But it's difficult when everything feels so uncertain."

I nodded, my own heart aching with the weight of our conversation. "Let's talk through it. We need to be open with each other and work through our feelings. I don't want to lose what we have."

Heeseung took a deep breath, his shoulders slumping slightly as he tried to regain his composure. "Okay," he said quietly. "Let's talk."
