She was stunned, lost for words. She closed her eyes for a while before speaking. "Namjoon, it's true that I fell for you long ago. Somehow, I let you fall for me, and that's my mistake. I'm sorry, but I don't think we can take this further."
He had anticipated this response. Taking her hands, he looked at her with concern. "What's troubling you? Let me know, and we can find a solution together."
"First of all, you don't really know me yet; this is only our second meeting. Don't you think this is a bit premature?" She asked.
He smiled and took a deep breath. "Manya, sometimes no matter how long we deliberate, we arrive at the same conclusion. This is one of those moments for me. I have a strong intuition and a keen eye for people, and I see in your qualities that align perfectly with what I value— consideration, compassion, loyalty, intelligence, independence, and more.
Yes, I might be acting a bit impulsively because of my circumstances. I have just one request: help me find happiness for the other members of my family. In return, I'll support your dreams and be a devoted husband. I truly believe we can make this work."
She sighed deeply. "We're from different worlds, no, from different galaxies. Trying to be together is like the Andromeda and Milky Way colliding, trying to become one."
He chuckled at her metaphor. "See, the gravitational pull between objects in the universe holds everything in place. Our love can do the same magic, keeping us happy without colliding."
"But we're from different cultures, different countries, and different backgrounds. That could lead to conflicts between us, and eventually, we might fall apart."
"Don't be so naive," he said gently. "We live in a global world. Talking about cultural and national differences is outdated."
She hesitated, then added, "And on top of everything, ARMY—I can't break millions of hearts."
Nam Joon's expression softened, "Armies are my family. They understand me. They don't want me to live forever single. They all know that one day I will marry someone."
"Yes, but they will hate the person who takes their beloved man from them. I can't stand anyone's hatred." Her eyes began to tear up.
Namjoon couldn't bear to see her in pain. He decided not to push the argument further. He gently pulling her into a comforting embrace, patting her back gently. "Babe, you can refuse me now, but you can't refuse me forever. If I ever marry, it will be you, and you will be the only one for me. Let us give this a rest. It's okay. I accept your rejection. Calm down."
She buried her face in his chest, feeling the weight of their emotions, melted into his embrace.
"Let's be friends, just friends. Can't we be?"
"Whatever you wish," he whispered, patting her back. "Now stop crying. Don't be stressed."
