It was fun teasing Vincenzo. And Cha Young never ever missed an opportunity in doing so.
He's just so patient and humble and Cha Young wants to be like that one naughty child who presses all the buttons in an elevator.
It's fun to do so, when life is all tense and filled with tension and cases and you are in an on-going battle.
So, Cha Young made her way to the reunion, leaving her partner standing outside the building, adorably confused with a hint of jealousy.
The reunion was sordid, as usual.
She met cocky people from law school and saw them bragging about their stupidities.
As soon as she entered the hall, she met Ae-Ram and her side-chick Hee-Do.
They make their way before she even finds a seat and smile at her awfully.
"Long time, no see Cha Young-ah! How's it going?' Ae-Ram asks in a contemptuous tone.
"All perfect, Ae-Ram, how have you been doing?" Cha Young shoots her a fake smile that looks all too real, acting all nonchalant.
"Ahh, I am doing well, I heard you quit Wusang? And running your father's law firm?"
She asks again, trying to be caustic while shooting a cocky grin.
"Hong and Hong; a family business." Hee-Do adds, laughing with an insufferable grin.
Cha Young wants to spit on her face, these women are nothing but cheap old hags.
Cha Young wants to know why she decided it's a good idea to attend this reunion when all she was going to witness and see were some extremely toxic and terrible faces.
"Wusang is where conglomerates dog's work, I realized that."
Cha Young replies with a fresh face and confident smirk and chooses to ignore their scowls and makes her way to settle down.
She dreads and regrets her decision because these people are unbearable.
She keeps drinking and fuels alcohol in her system to ignore the condescending attitude and gaslighters.
Whenever someone tries to strike up a conversation with her, her snarky remark makes them shut their mouth and turn their faces away.
A few hours later, Cha Young and everyone else in the room, in that case, are quite drunk.
She has an impressive tolerance when it comes to makgeolli and soju but chianti and vodka are her weak territory.
Pucini's Tosca in the background and wine swirling in his glass, Vincenzo closes his eyes.
It's been 4 hours since Cha Young has gone to that reunion, and he hasn't received any calls or messages from her. He is a little worried, but he knows, she can handle herself well.
She seemed quite determined and cheerful while leaving, though he wasn't and isn't quite happy when she refused his offer to pick her up and was told that there are men too in this little reunion.
4 hours turn into 6 and now Vincenzo admits he is worried, because now it dawns on him.
Reunions in South Korea is a whole lot about drinking.
And there are men too.
Vincenzo makes his way to his kitchen, putting the glass on the kitchen counter and takes his phone in hand.
He is visibly relieved to see 31 unread messages by her.
But there aren't any missed calls.
He assumes she is clearly enjoying her time.
