"Joo Hyeong-ah" His mother called him while he was busy reading material regarding his upcoming exams.

He hums and looks back at his mother who's making breakfast in the tiny kitchen.

A very ordinary sight to see in the morning.

But what her mother tells him next while sitting in front of him makes his stomach churn and tongue heavy in his mouth.

"He's a really nice man, is a decent lawyer and has a beautiful daughter." He mother tells him earnestly.

Trying to compose his features, he asks "You met his daughter?"

He wonders why Cha Young didn't tell him anything if she's met his mother.

This day couldn't get any ordinary.

"Aniyo, he showed me a picture."

Vincenzo hums and tries to take a sip of the hot coffee to say something.

But instead, his tongue burns and that doesn't help his case.

It's not that he opposes his mother's decision.

It's that, out of all people, why his partner's father?

He suddenly stands up and his mother looks at him confused, he smiles at her reassuringly and suddenly relief floods her features.

Her son has never been vocal about quite a lot of things, so it's always been the non-vocal interaction between them.

She sees as her sons piles up his things from the table.

"Will you be free, tomorrow?" She asks him because she knows he comes late, 'as it's the second-last semester going on and there's a whole lot to do'

And it's not like Gyeong Ja is worried, she knows he has his own apartment near the university and all.

"Tomorrow's Friday." He says and ponders for a moment before agreeing.

And well, that's a surprise because he comes back really late on Friday's.

"I'll invite Yoo Chan with his daughter at our place for dinner, then."

He nods and smiles before leaving.

The whole day goes awful.

And he doesn't meet Cha Young once at the campus, surprisingly.

No texts.

No calls.

Nothing.

They had a different schedule today; he knows but this is odd.

And the whole thing is making him feel unsettled.

He makes his way to his apartment, in the evening, earlier than usual because usually they both walk to the convenience store to get a few bottles of makgeolli and perhaps, a chianti, if he's craving for one and then a little far for a takeout of tteokbokki.

He feels at ease when he finds the door to his apartment unlocked, meaning she is already there.

She sits with her laptop on the low table in his living room with takeout of tteokbokki and unopened makgeolli bottles, all cozy in one of his sweaters.

She's been waiting for him.

"What's up?" She says once he closes the door and locks it.

"You should lock the door."

She groans as she stretches her muscles and yawns before replying "Who's going to come after me?"

He goes to the bathroom to freshen himself and when he comes back to seeing her walking with a pot of ramen towards the table.
