IN A TURN of events, they all ended up leaving Yuannan Mountain together. Bruce informed them he could go without their aid for a couple more weeks, so they all ended up leaving together in the same car they arrived in, albeit with one more passenger.

They secured a flight ticket for Yu Lan. Fortunately, all of her paperwork was already in order. The sect had made sure of that. She didn't have all that much to bring either, since most of her belongings wouldn't have made much sense in the rest of the world.

First thing they were doing once they got back was shopping. Remiel was going to bring her to Harbour City, and they were going to shop until they dropped.

Shan Ling was going to stay behind. As de facto leader when Remiel was gone, she wouldn't be travelling around as much. She didn't seem to necessarily mind.

Yu Lan was clearly curious, but she hid most of it well. Occasionally, Remiel could see her eyes darting around in wonder, but she hid it all behind a facade of comfort and calmness. None of them poked through the brave mask she'd put up.

Dick and Cecily would go back first, Daniel heading with them. Damian was staying behind for another two weeks for Seraphina to visit. And then he'd go back.

Dick was humming the entire journey back, far more energetic than usual. Damian looked slightly annoyed. Occasionally, when Remiel felt like it, she joined in on Dick's singing session. Yu Lan was too busy staring out of the window in wonder.

"When are you going to Gotham?" Dick asked, glancing at her.

"Give me two to three months to settle everything down, I think. We'll come back here in around a month's time. Stay for a couple weeks. Head back to Hong Kong. And then I'll consider visiting Gotham."

"If you ever need help..."

Remiel let out a quiet sigh, glancing over to where he sat, driving. "I'll be fine. Don't you worry about it. I'll have Seraphina, at any rate. Pity you're taking Daniel, though."

"Do you want him to stay in Gotham until you're there?"

"That's up to him, really. If he comes back before me, he can consider it a vacation. If he feels like he can stay there, he can leave with me and Yu Lan at the end of our visit. All up to him." Daniel was important, but it wasn't as if they couldn't function without his help. And besides, they could contact him in Hong Kong. Most of the time they were operating, it would be morning in Gotham.

"We'll return him a master at information broking," Dick snorted. "You won't even recognise him."

"I look forward to that." Remiel felt amused. "He's a good kid. Don't scare him too much. Guy graduated from university and decided to try and make a difference rather than choose a normal career. I admire that."

"He'll have Barbara and Cecily. If he has an affinity for tech and deductive reasoning, Tim might pick him up too. I don't suppose he has any interest in fighting."

"I tried to teach him. He's not great at it. I don't think he wants to risk his neck on the field anyways. He's not a soldier."

"Good for him." Dick sounded wistful. "Lucky for him to have met you too. He wouldn't have opportunities like this otherwise."

A road trip felt like a suitable way to end this adventure. The four-hour journey felt far more enjoyable this time around. Yu Lan occasionally mumbled questions, and Damian replied with utmost seriousness. Sometimes, it was Damian who spotted something and felt the need to explain it to Yu Lan. The two of them chattered quietly throughout the journey. Remiel occasionally tapped in, offering her own two cents, or something specific about Hong Kong that Yu Lan would have to know.
