Cookie lets me stay the night to give me time to process the information I was given. My guardian angel, the concept seemed so unreal to me. The next morning, he left me with a change of clothes and a burner phone fully charged. I shower, change, and head downstairs. Cookie is already outside chopping wood. The barrier is still up and Lilith is still staring at me with shock in her eyes.
I can see why you hold this man in such high regard.
I nod walking through the barrier and feel Lilith settling back into my body. Cookie waves me over I obey with a level of hesitation. I'll be honest, I'm not sure what to expect from my old instructor. Johnny falls into step next to me a silent question in his eyes. I shake my head. This wasn't the place to have this conversation, one that just became more difficult.
"Said you got yourself War?" He asks gruffly.
"Yes sir," Johnny answers.
"Know who the others are?" He stops the axe resting on his shoulder. His stance reminds me of Spencer. My chest sears with pain. His loss is starting to become noticeable and my heart is not a fan of it.
"I can see their faces, sir." Johnny addresses him respectfully. It's a gesture that does not go unnoticed by Cookie. He meets the eyes of my guardian demon and they're not filled with distaste. Were the whole demons versus angels thing just for show? Or was there an actual rivalry?
"I can understand why you haven't spoken to Kaitie here about their identities, but I'd keep an eye on the remaining survivors." Cookie keeps his answer vague.
"Making no promises." Johnny salutes him taking me back to the venue. I take out the burner phone knowing Cookie gave me this in case I needed to contact him for whatever reason.
Johnny told your crew you were visiting an old friend.
"This place feels like a ghost town," I answer looking around. I'd been expecting a line of fans. The familiar hustle of the crews getting ready for the performance tonight. My concern took me to the Ice Nine Kills tour bus. Before I can even open the door, she stops me.
I can sense Famine's magic at work here.
"I thought Pestilence was next?" my confusion turns into panic. Had I missed him while I was with Cookie? Lilith soothes my nerves taking away all traces of panic consuming it for me.
They can go in any order they wish, my dear. We must visit Doctor Kincaid.
"Why are we visiting my psychologist?" Today's state of mind? Confusion. I'd be the first to admit the doctor had become a completely different person since he joined us. I could write it off, especially since everyone here had gone bat-shit crazy. It may be called the Trinity of Terror tour but it didn't need to be taken literally.
I hate to agree with an angel, but you need to calm your mind.
"These thoughts should be perfect for you. The sooner you leave, the sooner I can live my own life again," I mutter passing the Motionless in White bus getting a wave of Lust and Envy that makes Lilith shudder.
My beloved appears to have been busy.
"They should be dead!" I snap at her.
The daggers served their purpose, Kaitlynn, do not doubt that.
"Is that why you have yet to fuck off and find out?" my hands start shaking. "Haven't I suffered enough?!"
My dear you know nothing of the powers of Hell and I am not going to explain them to you when you're in such an aggravated state.
