A New beginning

Adelia wakes up to her alarm going off. She turns it off.

"Thank you for blessing me with another day Lord and for breathing the breath of Life into me today God."

Adelia sits up in her bed and looks around her new room. Callum and James finished helping her move in yesterday after her and Callum's talk.

It was a talk that they needed to have but one that Adelia was sure that she was ready for. But she trusted in the fact that God knows when and what she's ready for and what she can handle.

And God won't give His children more than they can handle.

Adelia grabs her Bible off of her nightstand, heads over to her desk sitting down. She reads a chapter and studies. She read 2 Thessalonians chapter 1.

Adelia felt like the chapter was telling her to strengthen her faith, put her trust in God, live the way that He wants her to live, and let Him handle the rest.

Adelia said a prayer based on what she learned in the chapter.

"The Lord my God, I pray that You help my faith grow exceedingly and help my love for others abound greatly. Lord, I pray that You help me to have patience and faith and that You help my faith and patience stand strong in all my persecutions and tribulations. Lord, I pray that You count me worthy of Your Kingdom and that Your name Jesus Christ may be glorified in me. In Jesus name, I pray amen."

After Adelia finishes her Bible study she reads her morning prayer and daily devotion saying prayers for both.

Adelia gets up and heads into the kitchen making herself breakfast. Today is her first day of training at the new facility.

She is so excited. She's never trained at a rink except the one back home. She hopes she meets some new friends who can show her around town. Adelia's been warned and told the stories about how going to college changes people and they fall into sins and sinful behavior.

But Adelia has faith that that won't happen to her. She wants to bring people closer to Jesus and spread His love to everyone.

Adelia makes a quick and small yogurt bowl with granola and fruit on top. She sits down on the couch, prays for her food, and watches an episode of Superbook on her phone.

While Adelia was eating she heard her roommate walk the room. "What are you doing up so early it's 7 am?" Elora asks walking over to her and plopping down on the couch beside her facing her.

"I have practice at 8:30" Adelia turns to face Elora as well.

Elora looks down at Adelia's phone hearing a show play from it and gasps when she sees what Adelia's watching.

"I love Superbook. It was one of the only shows that I watched as a baby Christian."

Adelia found out some exciting news last night. Her roommate is a Christian too. It was one of the things on Adelia's mind while getting ready for college.

Of course, she would love her roommate even if she wasn't a Christian but would her roommate feel the same way?

You can't love others without knowing God because God is love.

"Me too, It's one of my favorite shows."

"We should have a Superbook marathon girl's night" Elora suggests excitedly.

"Yes, and we can do a Bible study and listen to worship music."

Elora gasps "Yes. That sounds like so much fun."

Both of the girls squeal excitedly loving the idea of having a night completely about Jesus.

"Should we do it tonight?" Adelia asks feeling that it would be an amazing way to start the school year and their friendship.

"We should. Do you want to go to the store after your practice to get snacks?"

"Yes. Can I get your number so that I can text you when it's over?"

"Of course."

The girls give each other their numbers and sit talking about the exciting night. Adelia was never like this with her high school friends. She always ended up left out and on the sidelines watching her friends gossip, talk about, and do things without her. She never really fit in.

Even though she didn't like what they did she still wanted to be included. To feel loved and important even if it was fake.

She found love though just not in her old friends and it wasn't fake it was real, true, and everything. And it still is.

Adelia checked the time and excused herself to get ready to head to the rink. After Adelia gets changed and ready she says bye to Elora, heads out of the dorm, and gets into her car heading to the rink after saying a prayer for safety and guidance.

She walks in and looks around at the rink. It was way bigger than the one back home and it was beautiful. She could imagine herself dancing on the ice to a song about the Lord gliding letting Him move her and expressing her love for Him through every move she makes.

"Beautiful isn't. You must be Adelia." She jumps at the voice behind her.

Why do boys like to just pop up behind me? Make noise when you walk.

"Um yes and yes. How did you know that? Who are you?" Adelia questions after she turns around to find a boy maybe a little bit older in front of her.

"Oh sorry, I'm Zayne and my mom is the coach. She told me that we had a new addition to the team and asked me to show you the ropes. And considering that I've never seen you before and you're carrying a training bag I put 2 and 2 together" he says holding out his hand for her to shake.

She grabs his hand and shakes it letting go soon afterwards.

"It's nice to meet you Zayne. So when do we start skating?" She says excitedly wanting to get on the ice.

"One step at a time. Let me show you around first and then you can get changed and start skating. Come on." He gestures for her to follow him and he gives her the tour.

He ends the tour with the girls locker room. "This is the girl's locker room. You can go get changed and then meet me on the ice so that we can test your level."

Adelia nods and heads into the locker room after saying a quick thank you. She sits down and takes a deep breath.

This is it. A new stage of my life beginning. I'm so glad that You're here with me Jesus. I wouldn't be here or want to do this without You. And thankfully I don't have to.

I've been a bit nervous about getting to this point. I mean so much doubt has come into my mind. Like they won't like you and you aren't good enough.

But God has rebuked every single one of those negative thoughts and cast them down to the pits where they belong. He's kept me.

This rink could be a new start for me. A chance to skate without running into the past. A chance to skate without seeing my old friends together.

It's also a chance to gather the blessing that You have for me on the path that You paved for me, Lord.

Here we go, Jesus. Thank You so much for everything, Lord. I love you so much Abba God.

Adelia gets up and changes into her skates and pulls down her leggings over the laces. She heads out to the rink and takes off her blade cover before stepping onto the ice.

Adelia glides over to meet Zayne and who she guesses is the coach stopping in front of them.

"You ready?" the coach asks Adelia.

"Yes, yes I am" Adelia smiles truly believing the answer to more than one question.
