Wish I Knew You

CONNIE LAUGHED tapping the table, holding her stomach. Telling the story to the three of them, she licked her lips from the crumbs.

"So the storm starts building up outside Yukon, and Aiden is nowhere to be found," Connie says, chuckling as she recalls it. "I'm running from the upstairs of this cheap motel, searching high and low for him until." She stops for effect.

"I find him running out of a motel room wearing nothing but a stetson," Connie says, Kate laughs loudly shaking her head. "Are you serious?" She asked.

"Yes, and to make things worse the sirens start going off so we have to rush out of the parking lot, The whole time driving to the tornado Aiden is in the back changing clothes." She chuckled, and she tapped the table.

"The only reason he was like that was because of the "Cowboy Hat Rule, or something," Connie tells them, laughing with them.

"Well, Connie is your friend the reason you chase?" Mrs Carter wonders, she shrugs. "Kind of, Aiden doesn't really have a feel for the weather like I do."She explains.

"A feel for it?" Mrs Carter asked. Tyler cleared his throat interjecting. "Yeah, some people are just lucky, while others have a gift." He adds.

"Kate has always had the gift even when she was little." The woman says. "Always knew when the weather was coming, even better than the cows." She recalls. Kate blushed covering her face.

"You hear that, you're better than cows." Tyler teased her. Connie chuckled looking at Kate, Sorry she mouthed.

"That's a compliment." Mrs Carter says, looking at her daughter. "Got to have a feel for it." She recalled.

"She always had a feel for it?" Connie asked her. She nodded. "One time when I was giving her  a bath." Mrs Carter starts. She covered her mouth to stifle her laugh.

"Can we not?" Kate begged of her mom. "Maybe just a little." She says. Connie laughed softly.

"And we heard thunder, and she shot out of the tub, ran out the house naked as the day she was born." Mrs carter retells to them. Connie grinned, trying her best not to as to not make Kate feel more embarrassed.

"Oh my god," Kate mumbled. Tyler grinned looking at the two of them, the woman next to him cheeks hot from smiling and laughing.

"I was terrified, and when I finally caught up with her." She looked over to Kate, smiling warmly.  "She was standing in the middle of a wheat field, staring at the sky." She finished.

"Got to try that out," Tyler says. Connie scoffed shaking her head at the idea. "I would pay to see that." She remarks.

"Dont encourage her," Kate begged of them, playfully glaring at the both of them.  "Keep your clothes on Kate, let your mom finish." Tyler teased her.

"All I'm saying is she loved the weather, where's the weather the happier the girl." She says. Connie sighed, feeling the air shift at the table. The sun had settled and some light in the sky remained with a light glowing purple.
