Epilogue

One Storm Season Later

THE WEATHERMAN ON the TV showed the radar, reassuring the fine people of Oklahoma they had nothing to worry about. The radio softly played country music, she pushed up her goggles as she rewired the RC car.

"Did you finish the scans in the van?" Ryan wondered. The young boy had finally graduated and chose to work under the two chasers full time, last storm season changed his view on everything and made him understand this is where he belonged.

"Uh yeah last night, did you oil up the ramp for THOR?" Connie asked him. He bit his lip, brushing back his loose ebony hair. "No, but I will do it now." He stated, walking away.

"W40 is on the top shelf in the back." She says. She sat up on her stool, sighing finished with the wiring.  Her uncle had a friend who moved barns to lots and was gracious enough to lend her what she needed.

Therapy, and being with people she cared about had almost healed her. Nightmares still hung in her body like lightning about to strike. Never forgot what happened in the storm drain, but the hole in her heart was lessening.

She and Tyler were still together, it was difficult at times with him living in Arkansas but they made it work.  The late-night phone calls, her teasing him about some of his antics as the wrangler.  There were times when he could read her like a book.

Seeing the way she was struggling to even talk on Facetime. One night she woke up to a knocking on her door, he had driven all night in the rain to come see her.  Not leaving her side, knowing that she needed someone.

"This was outside!" A voice spoke up, she turned on her stool. Aiden stood in the entrance holding up a yellow envelope, she furrowed her brows. A small girl behind him popped her head out.

"Bean!" She exclaimed in joy, setting her goggles down. Her braids bounced as she ran over to the woman, engulfing her in a hug at the waist. She laughed out loud, grinning as she held her.

Aiden had started to bring his daughter, Coco, around the barn. Connie adored the wide-eyed girl, she had the same smile as he father and the sass of him as well. He was doing all he could to be in her life, the girl's mother letting Aiden take to spend time with her on weekends.

"You're getting too big, you have to stop growing," Connie complained. Coco giggled pulling away, she looked over to her Dad. "You see the sky?"She asked.

"I did, it's scary huh?" Connie questioned, the little girl furrowed her brow. "It's so cool!" She shouted, she laughed.

"Oh, this one is definitely your's." She teased her friend. Aiden shook his head, looking at the envelope in hand, she cleared her throat.

"Hey, why don't you go see if Ryan will let you play with the tornado tunnel?" She suggested. Coco grinned with all her teeth. "Okay!" She exclaimed, her sketches lighting up as she ran.
