Meera Rai was at a loss of words when she saw her husband backing her in a corner, his cold hands over her mouth and his piercingly sharp eyes matching her gaze. For a second, it felt like a dream where she was back in Vihaan's arms and buried under his warmth. The very next second, Meera realised that there never was a dream to begin with.
It was all nightmares.
The smell of his cologne which once worked like a balm to her soul was now causing a terrible pain in her heart and for her stomach to churn.
To think she was sharing a bed with him all these months, that she stripped herself off her clothes and her fears for someone like him, that she loved him. All of it made her more heartbroken than angry.
She had nothing to be ashamed off. She did nothing wrong. Her only fault was that she was stupid enough to trust another man and not learn from her mistakes.
Meera pushed his scarred hand off her face, making sure that she would not be blindsided by his actions again. This time she was not going to fall for his sickly sweet words or heroic actions. She wasn't going to be fazed even if he dies for her, because he had lost all her respect and her love.
She felt nothing for him and she'd make sure it remained that way.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, a calm voice resonating in the corner of the room.
She wanted to yell and scream and make a scene. She wanted to slap him, she really did. But, in all honesty, with the near-death experience Vihaan had and him stomping over her life for his ego feud - Meera felt nothing for the man.
Simply put, he was not worth it.
Vihaan Singh Chauhan, however had other plans in mind when he decided that he needed to check on his wife. It was stupid how he planned the entire ordeal, dotting the i's and crossing the t's only for him to cower when it was time to let go.
He wasn't entirely sure why he was here. The last thing he remembered was being in the hospital and being monitored by the doctors to keep a check on his drug intake. Yet in those two weeks where Vihaan thought he won the challenge by putting his wife down, he couldn't stop feeling both guilty and scared.
He couldn't work, he couldn't sleep, he couldn't eat.
He stopped functioning like a normal human being once his wife was out of the picture.
How does that even work?
He was fine before her, he was fine when she was with him, then how the fuck did he stop functioning once she left him? There was no way a woman could hold so much power over him that she'd easily be the death of him.
So he traced his steps to the main reason of the malfunction. He wanted answers to the questions that kept him up at night. He was desperate to know why he was suffering when everything that happened was exactly what he wanted.
Then why the fuck did he feel like someone had ripped his heart out from his body and taken it away from him.
Meera and Vihaan were always destined for each other.
To be each other's weakest and fragile part, to be each other's bane. They were meant to find each other, they were meant to cross paths and then, utterly destroy each other - knowingly and unknowingly tie each other to a bond that was only going to erupt tremors of pain and trauma.
They were destined for heartache and tragedy, loss and pain - heart breaking and gut wrenching pain. They were destined for each other, simply because they were each other's absolutely worst nightmares.
