"Should we do a site inspection today? Your schedule is free and we have another meeting at 4 in Sky High so we can make it if we leave right now."

"What about the tender for the tower suite complex, the one which we were told we'd get?"

"Um... I think they backed out."

Vihaan looked up from his laptop. He was working on a blueprint for the next lined up projects, the forty-story tower was one of them. He raised his eyebrow at his secretary so she could elaborate further.

"The Board does not think you are... how do I put in words that won't get me fired?"

"The Board can kiss my ass, if they think they can boss me around. I still own the firm." Vihaan rested his back on the chair. "And isn't this a decision that needs to be made by Aroras and us? Why wasn't I invited to this meeting?"

"Sir, the Board of both companies have decided this. The meeting was last week... when you were on a sabbatical." His secretary forwarded him a digital copy of the minutes of the meetings and the decisions they took. "After the flyover project, the two instances of you being extremely sick and the underlying issues in your marriage - " Vihaan glared at her. "- their words not mine." She immediately countered. "They want a better CEO."

Vihaan scoffed. "Oh, now they want a better CEO? What happened to the crores of money they have pocketed from this one?" He was flaring up at the turn of events, and even more at the way he dug his own grave. He was never lethargic with his work, in fact, his work was always his priority.

Until, of course. He got married and made someone else his priority.

"Call a Board meeting."

"But sir." Miss Shah took a deep breath and faced the fuming architect. "The matter is really heated right now, from both sides. Arora Constructions may end the partnership at this rate and..."

Vihaan rolled his eyes. "VSC does not depend on Aroras, and we don't need them." He was diabolical when he said that Aroras Constructions and VSC Architecture didn't need each other when they were each other's lifelines. But he would rather lose than apologise and if Shaurya wanted to play it dirty, then be it. "Call for a Board meeting, and if I have to repeat myself again, consider yourself without a job."

"Sorry sir, I am on it." Miss Shah grabbed her cell phone and her tab. "Also..." She looked at Vihaan who was busy working on the blueprints. "Do you want any update on Meera ma'am's health?"

It had been quite a rough couple of days since Meera was responded positively to medications and she was coping well. The moment she felt better, Vihaan stepped out of the house and into his workplace. He had a little makeshift room next to his cabin where he could stay overnight for his crucial deadlines and Vihaan hadn't gone home since. He had to take over the pending pile of his business or it would all collapse like his life was.

"You have Dr. Mehta's number?" Vihaan asked, not wanting to waste his time any further. He didn't bother to look at his secretary, while scanning through the designs. "If there is anything wrong, inform him. Not me. I don't want to be disturbed at any circumstance."

"Please let me get this straight." Miss Shah made a note of the same. "I don't have to inform you about Meera ma'am's health at all. Good or bad. Is that all sir?"

"Yes. We'll do a surprise site inspection for the pending projects, so get the assigned team ready. We leave in ten."

Miss Shah noted everything that was asked and took her leave. Once she was gone, Vihaan gathered the huge blueprints laying on his desk and grabbed his suit jacket. The only thing that kept him sane was his company, the firm he built from scratch. He had neglected his responsibilities for a month now, and it was time to regain his status back.
