Jake stood wearily in front of his new shared apartment, his luggage piled around him. It was only 10 in the morning, but he was already there, ready to settle in. From the outside, the place looked decent enough, but when he stepped inside, he was stunned by how enormous it was.

His roommate wasn't home. Jake had been informed that the person he was going to be living with was quite a busy man, so he didn't bother waiting around. Instead, he lugged his bags inside and started unpacking in his own room, deliberately ignoring the disaster zone that was the rest of the apartment.

It looked like a tornado had swept through. There were unwashed dishes stacked precariously in the sink, half-open bottles of alcohol littering the countertops, and clothes strewn everywhere. Just how untidy and lazy was Jake's new roommate? Given that his roommate was a guy, it wasn't surprising he'd be mess Jake was no neat freak himself but this level of clutter was unbelievable.

As he unpacked, Jake couldn't help but imagine his mother's reaction. She'd probably walk in, take one look around, and faint dramatically on the spot with his father supporting her body. He chuckled to himself, picturing her grabbing the nearest mop and declaring a state of emergency.

Shaking his head, Jake decided to focus on getting his own space in order. Maybe living with a slob wouldn't be so bad at least he'd have plenty of material for complaints when he called home.

Jake had moved from Australia to Seoul a few months ago. His parents had missed living in Korea, but they had stayed in Australia until Jake finished high school. To say he wasn't nervous would be an understatement. He had spent his entire life in Brisbane, Australia, and even though he was born in Korea, this place felt very foreign to him.

Thankfully, his parents had insisted he learn Korean, or else he'd be in an even bigger dilemma. He remembered the countless weekends spent in Korean language classes, which he had initially hated. Now, he was grateful for every bit of it because travelling around Seoul would have been a nightmare without it.

As he unpacked, he wondered what his roommate would be like. Hopefully not some party animal who brought chaos home. Jake enjoyed his peace and quiet too much for that. He sighed and decided to tackle the rest of the apartment later. Right now, he needed to get settled in his own room and maybe take a nap to recover from the long drive he took to reach here.

Jake was jolted awake by the sound of music blasting through the apartment. He sat up abruptly and then stumbled to his door, throwing it open to a scene straight out of a frat party. A ton of people were dancing and drinking in his living room. He wasn’t sure what was happening.

As he made his way through the chaos, he bumped into a guy who was a bit taller than him and radiated an intimidating aura.

"Watch where you're standing, man," the boy said, his voice was deep and looked quite handsome jake gulped a little.

jake is gay he can't help it lol

"I'm sorry, I didn't see you," Jake apologized, looking up at the taller male propely now who was now staring at him intently.

"Who invited you? I haven't seen you before," the guy questioned, making Jake even more unsure of what to say.

"Um, I'm not invited... I live here," Jake replied, surprising the boy in front of him.

"You live here?" the boy repeated. "You're Sunghoon hyung's roommate?" He leaned closer, making Jake even more nervous.

Usually, Jake was a confident guy who spoke his mind, but right now, every ounce of his confidence had evaporated. He just woke up and had forgotten that his roommate was called Sunghoon. His father had only told him he found a nice apartment with a guy who was also studying in the same uni.

He did mention the name but jake being jake could remember all the complex physics theories and formulas but not his roommate's name.

"Yes, I moved in today and I haven't met my roommate yet," Jake answered, chuckling nervously.

"It's okay, man. Sunghoon hyung isn’t the type to be home a lot. Although, you might see him coming home at 2 in the morning," the taller boy laughed.

Jake awkwardly joined in, realizing his roommate was exactly the type of person he wanted to avoid. Clearly, luck wasn't on his side.

"What's your name though" the taller guy asked smiling at him

"I'm Jake Sim, I moved from Australia a couple months ago" Jake says he liked the boy's smile it made him look a less intimidating and a lot more cute, infact Jake noticed the boy looked quite young

"I'm Nishimura Riki, but can just call me Ni-ki, I'm from Japan but I moved to Korea when I was in middle school" Ni-ki says extending his hands for a handshake

"Nice to meet you Ni-ki" Jake smiles at him, honestly Ni-Ki didn't seem so bad right now he was liking his company.

"So Jake hyung" Niki starts "you must be the same age as Sunghoon hyung so I can call you hyung right?" He asks catching Jake off guard he didn't expect the boy to be younger than him

"yes of course you can, does that mean you're in highschool right now?" Jake questions

"I'm in my junior year you'll see in uni in a few years" the japanese male winks at the aussie male making him feel uncomfortable that he was possibly flirting and may god forgive him for finding him attractive before he knew he was a minor

"that's good to hear haha, I'll be in my room, then," Jake said, retreating to his room.

why was a 17 year old drinking alcohol at this age is something Jake would like to know Sunghoon must really be irresponsible is what he was thinking

He grabbed a packet of chips from his backpack and started munching on them in frustration.

As he chewed, he couldn’t help but think that this university experience was going to be very memorable and not in a good way. He imagined his mom's horrified face if she could see this and chuckled despite himself. At least he’d have some wild stories to tell (or not?)

"Welcome to university life," he muttered to himself, shaking his head as he stared at the ceiling, the thumping bass of the party seeping through the walls.
