A loud insisted buzzing of my alarm blares, dragging me back into the grind. I hit the snooze button, wishing I could silence the day's demands and snuggle back into the warmth of my bed. One of my biggest enemies Monday mornings. Ugh! cruel light creeps through my window, shattering my not-so-peaceful dreams. The bed creaks in protest as I reluctantly rise, my heart heavy with the weight of another long day ahead. The world outside is already stirring, but I'm not ready to join the chaos.
Regardless I rose and went to take a shower and start getting ready for my day's torture. My room was messy, my hair was a mess, and I don't even know where's my backpack!!! A lot was going on, and I had no energy to entertain all of it. I wore my lazy outfit which consisted of black leggings, an anime-graphic sweatshirt, and white slip-on vans. Wearing a sweatshirt in this sunny day weather is crazy, but I had to hide my bruised wrists.
I looked pretty much decent. I tried to do a cute hairstyle but failed and stuck with a high ponytail. I added a few clips to make it look cute.
Yesterday's events clouded my mind. I smiled knowing that I'd see Kai again, hopefully.
I sighed with a positive attitude as I went downstairs to find my mom watching the morning news while drinking coffee.
Isn't she going to work?
"Morning mammy" I voiced out so loud that she could hear me.
She turned her face with a big smile, showing her wonderful teeth. God really has favorites. My teeth are the ugliest of them all, I have croaked teeth but I'm so glad that not a lot of people notice that.
"Hey baby" she placed her cup on the table before reducing the volume of the tv. "Today must be a really good day for you to wake yourself up," she said giggling.
I raised my eyebrows. "Yeah I did that cause I thought you already went to work," I said before making my way to the kitchen to make a quick and easy breakfast. I'm a big fan of muesli, strawberries, and blackberries with plain yogurt, so I did that.
Going back to the living room I took a seat next to Mom. I said grace silently and began devouring my food.
"Why aren't you at work" I asked her before taking another spoonful of food. I looked at her as she was about to answer.
"Steven called this morning and told me that there was a break-in at the company's premises. They stole some things so the police are investigating and he's giving me a week off" she spoke up.
"Woah that's so bad. I mean who in their right mind would break in and steal something that doesn't even belong to them?"
"Dangerous people," she said getting up with her empty mug and walking toward the kitchen.
I raised my eyebrows as I dragged myself into the kitchen with my empty bowl. "What do you mean 'dangerous people'?" I questioned as I placed my bowl in the sink.
"I mean people who would do anything to get what they want or even worse ruin someone's career cause they working with a particular case that can send them to jail," she answered back.
"Why are you saying this like you have an experience?"
She shook her head. "Honey you asking so many questions, aren't you supposed to be in school?"
Oh, shoot! I checked the time on my mom's phone and it reads 07:04 am. It's still early but my life's a lot harder now that I don't know where the heck is my backpack.
"Mom, have you seen my backpack?" I turned to look at her.
"It's in your closet"
I nodded and went to look in my closet. I found it not even damaged. I thought Ddosun might've wrecked it. I did a little happy dance and proceeded to pack the things I needed for school. I went back downstairs to find my mom waiting for me at the front door.
