Multiple personality disorder is a condition that can cause people to have two or more distinct identities, or personality states. These identities, also known as alters, can be completely different from each other and can take control of a person identity for a time. DID can be caused by stressful experiences, trauma, or abuse, typically during childhood.

Due to what happened in atsushi childhood, he has multiple personality disorder. The other personalities have names, different voices, personality and even handwriting. One of the main altars is byakko, they mostly come out when atsushi is in danger. Atsushi and akutagawa were on a mission and had completed it but of course akutagawa always complain's about something.

Both of them were waiting for dazai to arrive and akutagawa was just yelling at atsushi. Atsushi just look at the ground and say nothing, this is when byakko took control. "Leave him alone!" Byakko yell, akutagawa looked shocked not expecting atsushi to yell but he realized it didn't sound like atsushi, the voice was more deeper and demanding. Dazai came to hear the yelling, he has suspicions and this just had kind of confirmed it. "Does atsushi know you exist?" Dazai asked, byakko just look at dazai, they didn't like dazai too. "Maybe, maybe not." Byakko answer, dazai just smirked and akutagawa looks deadly confused.

Byakko didn't stay long, atsushi was back and he just stare. "Dazai? Why are you staring at me?" Atsushi asked, atsushi didn't know that byakko to control. "Nothing, come on atsushi, let get going." Dazai said, atsushi just nod and follow dazai, akutagawa just stand there before walking away, wondering what the fuck just happened. Dazai told yosano about everything, she couldn't diagnosing with multiple personality disorder so they had to go to a doctor that specializes in that.

Atsushi was in fact diagnosed with it, dazai wasn't that surprise, he had a suspicions but the other were, they couldn't believe it. It didn't change anything, it was just a shocker. "Byakko is the main other alter, we don't know how many alters there are." Yosano explained, everyone just nod, understand what yosano was saying. "Byakko seem to only come out when atsushi is in danger though.." Kunikida said, everyone also noticed that. "Byakko is just protecting atsushi, sometimes alters protect, it just really depends." Yosano said, atsushi was just sitting there the whole time, he didn't really know what to say, he understood everything.

"I guess we have to wait to see what the other alters are." Dazai said with a smirk, kunikida just shake his head, he didn't know what dazai was smirking. "If atsushi does have other alter, he may just have one." Yosano explained, surprisingly kenji was understand this, he was only 14 but he seem to understand most of it, which was good.

Nothing really changed, the agency member still like atsushi and he was part of the family. They did get to see byakko a few time, when atsushi was being hurt or yelled at. It doesn't really affect atsushi life.
