❟❛❟ CHAPTER TWELVE ❟❛❟

After playing with the slides, they cleaned up together and removed the ice that Todoroki had made. Bakugou's plan worked really well. The kids even apologized to both their teacher and them, promising not to cause any more trouble.

In short, they completed their task today.

"Akame, how are soulmates at U.A.?" Camie started the conversation as they changed in the locker room. "Shiketsu is so uptight. They don't let us date each other at my school. Even though we are soulmates."

Akame groaned inwardly. Not the soulmate topic again. The kids had pestered her about it before and now it was her turn. She had been happy for the past few days that no one had mentioned soulmate around her. Even Todoroki and Bakugou had remained silent on the matter. But alas, it seemed the silence had been shattered.

"We don't have any rules like that," she replied. "At U.A., soulmates are treated just like any other regular relationships. So there's no special treatment or anything like that."

Camie tilted her head. "I accidentally saw your arm and it looks like you have a soulmate too, Akame."

Her hand instinctively covered her left arm, where her soulmates' name was engraved. "No."

"No?" Camie frowned, curiosity danced in her eyes.

"I don't believe in soulmates," she answered coldly. Or I just don't deserve it

The blonde girl turned to face her. Her expression became serious for the first time. "That's right," she said, her voice devoid of any warmth that made Akame curious. "Soulmates don't guarantee happiness." She raised her left arm, pulling down her sleeve, revealing the soulmate mark that had been scratched with abstract cuts. It looked terrifying, especially the red color that stood out starkly, refusing to fade, like a permanent scar, and was just like a warning that would haunt her for life.

"Camie-san..." Akame widened her eyes. She never thought that Camie, who seemed to have no burdens in life, would be one of the unfortunate ones.

"Sorry for scaring you," Camie's laughter rang out as if it were an everyday occurrence. She casually rolled up her sleeves and buttoned it. "There are some people who are unlucky when it comes to soulmates, including me. But not everyone is like that."

"And also..." she trailed off, then grinned. "Todoroki and Bakugou don't seem like such bad people."

Akame's body tensed, caught off guard. Camie's scrutiny bore into her. Of course, Camie had read the name etched on her arm. But what surprised her was the revelation that Akame had not one, but two soulmates. To complicate matters further, they were both male U.A. students attending the same supplementary classes.
