"Costumes and choreography! We've got so many decisions to make!!" Mina's voice rang out, her excitement evident as she skipped ahead, nearly dancing on her toes.
"What's gonna cheer everyone up the most?" she continued, spinning around to face her friends, her grin contagious.
"We have to choose what's trendy, bro!" Kaminari chimed in, tossing a casual arm over Jirou's shoulder. "Right, Jirou?"
U.A.'s cultural festival was right around the corner— a very school-like event that had everyone buzzing with excitement. It was a break from the intense hero training, a chance for them to let loose and enjoy something a bit more normal.
"Hey, did you hear?" Akame exchanged a glance with Ojiro as they walked. There was no way they hadn't heard the whispers and mocking laughter from the general studies kids earlier.
"Class A of the hero course is throwing a concert... for our sake!" one of the general studies students had sneered, their voice dripping with sarcasm.
"For us? What the hell is that?" another girl added with a sneer. "Don't they look pretentious?"
"They really take things too lightly," someone else muttered darkly. "Even after getting attacked by villains, they still went ahead with that training camp. Then they were attacked again, and some got injured. We had to suffer the consequences of their recklessness. But they act like it's not their fault."
Akame's gaze settled on Bakugou's back, just a few steps ahead. He must have heard them. The tension in his posture spoke volumes—those words had clearly struck a nerve. They weren't even trying to be discreet with their taunts.
"The culture festival is just one month away! We don't have much time. So a number of decisions must be made today," Iida announced once they were back in the dorm's common area.
"First, we have to choose the song, right?"
"I'm not really sure about that kind of stuff, so I'll just go with whatever you guys decide," Ojiro said, rubbing the back of his head.
"Let's do something groovy!"
"Well, shouldn't we pick a song everyone knows?"
"One that we can dance to!!"
"If that's the case, we might consider four-on-the-floor. And some new-rave club rock," Jirou said, stepping into the center of the room. "If we're doing dance music, we should really lean towards EDM... but everyone's set on playing instruments, right?"
Huh?
The room fell silent. Blank stares met Jirou's confident gaze, clearly not following her line of thought.
Jirou sighed, crossing her arms. "Has anyone here ever played bass or drums?"
"First, we need drums as the backbone of the band. I'm more of a guitarist, though. I'm still working on my drumming skills," she explained. "If I've gotta teach a complete beginner while still practicing myself, pulling this off in one month is gonna be tough."
