❟❛❟ CHAPTER TEN ❟❛❟

Akame is... just like Todoroki. They're half-assed bastards.

That was Bakugou's impression after witnessing the fight yesterday and recalling their encounter four days prior. He realized that Akame was not what he thought.

She was pretty. That was it. Her skills and quirk were not particularly impressive. He knew Akame was a skilled swordsman. But that was it. He had no interest in the girl, and they rarely interacted. She's like an extra.

But yesterday's fight changed everything.

He doesn't even know for sure what her quirk is. He just assumed she had a speed or tactician-like quirk. However, after she saved him and led them out of the battlefield, he realized that her real quirk was... teleportation. Oh how wrong he was, that was why her soulmate's name had just appeared.

But it turns out it's not just that.

Akame could create a terrifying nightmare-ish illusion. It felt disturbingly real, pushing him to the brink of insanity. And they fought like crazy. Bakugou remembered letting out all of his pent-up anger and emotions on her. Without mercy, as if he forgot that the girl before him was a human.

But Akame held on so effortlessly, and it was as if she wasn't even hurt. Her attacks were precise, sharp, and downright terrifying. It was as if Akame could see his movements and the attacks he was going to do. As if she could read him.

Unbeknownst to him, she had quickly climbed up and became one of his top rival candidates.

But why was she hiding it? Whether in class, during practice, or at the sports festival. Why didn't she show it?

Bakugou despised people like that. People who did everything half-heartedly and didn't use their full potential. He felt like he was being looked down upon.

And then it happened: Bakugou lost—to someone he had once dismissed as an insignificant extra, undeserving of his attention.

Four days after that, Akame fought the third year. He purposefully let her fight. Bakugou wanted to know her abilities. Could she hold her own against their senior, or had yesterday's display been nothing more than an illusion?

And Akame unleashed her new ability. Intangible. She became untouchable. Even, it seemed like she would have won against that senior if Aizawa-sensei hadn't intervened.

Moreover, her punch could create a small earthquake. Bakugou was sure that no human could do it, without a quirk. Even having a power-up quirk wouldn't have that kind of damage. Take Satou, for example.
