It's been about two weeks, maybe a little more, since we swapped bodies. We've stopped meeting up at the library on a daily basis; I'm starting to run out of sources to research, but I don't want to give in and realise the direness of our situation. It's a good thing Evan knows about the swap, since talking to him anchors me back to sanity.
"You know, would it really be so bad if you two became a couple?" he asks me. I can't tell if he's being serious or not.
"Of course, I don't want to be my own girlfriend!" I reply.
"Fair enough, but I mean, when you swap back, you'll have a girlfriend," he deduces.
"Why would I want Allison to be my girlfriend?"
"Come on, I already said it once, didn't I?"
"What?"
"You look cute," he says with a wink.
"Oh shut up!" Why am I getting flustered?
"You don't think she looks cute? I said you weren't my type, but that's mainly your personality."
"Thanks, buddy." Do I think Allison looks cute? Before I can answer that, I hear someone approaching us.
"G-Good morning," Megan greets me.
"Oh, g-good morning, Megan," I reply.
She looks at Evan.
"H-He also knows, don't worry," I assure her. Then I turn to Evan, "This is Megan, Allison's friend, she knows about the swap."
"Hey, nice to meet you, I'm Evan. Sorry about that one time during lunch that we took your seats," he apologises.
"It's fine," she mumbles, "What were you two talking about?"
Crap, I can't let her get second thoughts on trusting me and Allison. Is that really the only thing on our mind!?
"Uh, j-just some video game things," I sputter, giving Evan a sharp glance.
"Oh, I see," she says, "I forgot you wouldn't be talking about something Allison would be talking about."
Suddenly I become very aware of how awkward this situation is. Technically, Megan just approached two boys she's not acquainted with, who she actually has a disliking towards. Almost as if Evan read my mind, or felt the unstable vibes, he excuses himself with the excuse that he has to get to class and leaves. It feels mean that I would rather follow him than stay behind. I don't follow him though.
"So, Megan," I start, "What have you decided on since yesterday?"
"I'll believe you..."
Good, that's all that matters.
"A-And I'll try to treat you as a friend..." she adds.
Wait, what?
"R-Really?" I flop out.
"Yes. Allison seemed to not hate you yesterday, and if she doesn't hate you then... well, let's just say that says a lot," she explains.
I'm not as much of an Allison expert as she is, but I think she's referring to the fact that Allison is so shy. Well, I guess nowadays, with Evan, she isn't.
"Thanks, I guess," I say. Now comes the hard part of assuring her she's not making a mistake.
We make it to class in silence, but once the teacher starts lecturing, Megan turns to me.
"Hey so yesterday you said you weren't just being nice to me because you had to play Allison, what did you mean with that?"
"Exactly what I said." This is going to get corny, isn't it? "It wasn't like I was restraining myself from insulting you. Sometimes, I really did just... like talking to you..." I'm so embarrassed, which I consider a good thing. It must be my male side getting embarrassed talking to a girl! I still remember myself!
