"Can we please stop by a dollar store first?" I said. "I need something."

He just nodded his head as he changed his destination.

I planned on getting a nice frame to store the sonogram in. Reason? I'm planning to tell our parents about the pregnancy today. It maybe out of the blue, but I figured that I put off telling them for two months now and I have the ultrasound in my hand to prove it. It's time to tell them. I don't think even have a choice anyway.

We parked in the parking lot, but neither one of us dared to unlock the vehicle.

"Melly, I need you to think rationally before go off spending your money." Derek said. I just stared out the window, listening to him trying to talk rationally to me, but I've made up my mind. "Do you really think this is a good idea? They're going to be upset with us no matter what."

"I know." I said, keeping my eyes on the shopping plaza. "But still like to make it nice, You know? Give them something to remember."

"Oh, they'll remember it alright." I heard him mumble.

"Oh, you know what I mean." I said, finally looking at him.

Derek sighed, knowing that he cannot changed my mind. Is it bad that I just want to store my baby's first picture and present it to my parents?

"Okay, Mel. You want me to go with you?" Derek asked.

I smiled as I said, "If you want."

It's nice to see how willing he is to go about all this. 'Course he's scared, but the fact that he never backed out, when he knew he could, makes him strong in my eyes.

Derek smiled back as he unlocked the door. We stepped outside and walked towards the dollar store. He grabbed my hand, making me blush at the small gesture. I gave him a small smile as we roam around the cheap, but very useful store.

"Ah, where to go? Baby or craft aisle?" I asked, surprised at how I said going to baby aisle as if it were normal for us.

"Why don't we go to the craft aisle, first? If we don't find anything, we can go to the baby aisle." Derek said.

I nodded my head and made my way down the chosen aisle, until I reach to the picture frame display. I picked up a pale yellow frame that's small enough to fit the sonogram.

"What do you think?" I asked, my partner as I examined the small frame very carefully, to make sure there's not crack or anything.

"I like it. I think it's just small and simple. I don't think we need anything else than that." I said.

"Are you sure?" I asked, making sure it's okay.

Derek nodded my head. "Yes, yes, Mel. I believe that this picture frame is good for the sonogram. Wanna get a metallic sharpie? So you can write in the due date on the back of the frame."

"That's not a bad idea, actually." I said, turning to go down the aisle for the permanent marker brand.

I got the ones that I liked and we headed to the cash register.

We're not going to the baby aisle?" Derek asked.

"Not yet." I said. He nodded his head as I heard him open the soda fridge and putting his drink on the check-out table. We went up to African American man behind the counter.

"Oh, will you look at that. A young couple. You two look cute together!" The man said.

"Thank you." We said at the same time. It's really nice to get compliments on our relationship. I mean we've come a long way and it would just be hurtful to hear people dissing us.
