The ice rink had been near empty, with only a few people lounging on the bleachers and even fewer on the ice itself. In fact, there had only been one other guy skating around.
Sunoo was more than happy to spend the afternoon on the benches, the cool air like a balm on his heated skin. No matter how hard or uncomfortable the seats were, it was like heaven to the omega.
But Jungwon had discovered that, through his membership with the campus omega activist organization, he was able to rent two pairs of ice skates for free.
It was ironic how omega activism was actively making an omega like Sunoo suffer.
But even though the very last thing Sunoo wanted to do was stumble around with two death traps attached to his feet, it was biologically impossible for him to turn down Jungwon's giant puppy dog eyes!
Sunoo would rather face the risk of an extremely embarrassing ice skating related death than do anything that would upset his best friend.
And as he clung to the railings of the rink with the ice skates finally secured to his feet, Sunoo began panicking as he imagined just how embarrassing his demise on the ice would be.
He pictured his knees spontaneously giving out and sending his face crashing into the ice, his limp body vulnerable to anyone skating over him. Maybe his left foot would abruptly go one way and the right the other and the sudden spontaneous split would kill him. Or, he could slip a little too hard on the ice and his feet would fly above his head and he'd land on his back and shatter his spine in the process...
That wasn't how Sunoo had pictured his back being broken in university!
It was on that fateful, deadly patch of man-made ice that Sunoo met Sunghoon for the first time.
With a couple words of encouragement from Jungwon, Sunoo had waddled away from the railings with all the grace of a newly born giraffe. It was like a newly born giraffe had on a pair of ill fitting ice skates and had been dragged onto the ice by another giraffe that was immediately good at everything it did and didn't fully grasp the concept of failure because it had never been bad at anything in its life as a giraffe before- .
"Wow you suck." Jungwon teased, watching Sunoo wobble around with his own hands out as if ready to catch the other omega in case disaster struck.
"How are you gonna force me to ice skate with you and then make fun of me???" Sunoo whined, reaching out to try and grab Jungwon for support. He squeaked in indignation when Jungwon snatched his hands back at the last moment, laughing and taking great amusement in his best friend's suffering.
"This is fun, c'mon!" Jungwon did a little twirl as if to try and convince Sunoo, but the other omega wasn't impressed.
"This isn't fun. This is the worst day of my life." Sunoo announced, settling on an awkward squat to try and regain his center of balance. "Worse than the time we did those homemade face masks and when I took mine off, my eyebrows came off too!"
