Cade's POV:

I haven't been able to sit still since Faye and Savage left. He took her to my childhood town, where we both grew up side by side. I should have been the one to take her-

I take a deep breath in, I need to calm myself down - this is a good thing. It means that those two are getting to know each other better.

One foot in front of the other... turn.

What if her family is home and says something shitty?

What if being home brings up negative feelings?

What if she gets hurt?

Shit. Deep breath.

One foot in front of the other. Turn.

It's been three hours surely they should be home by now...

Pulling my phone out of my pocket I check the time religiously, my eyes quickly wonder to the 11 unread messages I sent Savage.

"Cade. Stop or you're going to run a hole in the floorboards." King grumbles from the kitchen.

"No keep going love, your ass is mesmerising me."

I turn to Chance, "Not the time for that. I'm worried, what if something happened? They've been gone forever."

My voice wains off at the end with a high pitched whine - something I've never ever done.

I cringe at how Omega it is.

King walks in through the interconnected doors, saving me from Chances very obvious amusement at my display of Omega-ness.

"Nothing will happen, she's with Savage. Do you not trust your mate?"

That makes me pause, tricky bastard.

"Of course I trust him I just don't trust them. Her family and the people in that town... You know my story and it's not exactly rainbows and butterflies where we grew up."

"Don't remind me," King grumbles out - dropping his huge frame into the single arm chair that sits across the room.

His chair, everyone knows it but that still doesn't stop Chance from sitting in it and teasing the head Alpha every chance he gets.

It's probably a good thing he chose not to tease him today because the Alpha in question looks stressed, very stressed.

Something he doesn't often let us see, his moment of vulnerability wouldn't be seen by just anyone but I know this man and I can read the signs.

His broad shoulders are tight, the muscles in his arms flexing with every clench of his hands.

I follow the veins up to his face, strong, masculine and now covered in the start of a thick beard.

King always keeps it trimmed to a stubble or just off the jaw but this new look...

Goddamn it, I have better things to think about then how sexy my Alpha looks or how badly I want his mouth around my coc-

"I need to discuss something with you two. I've talked to Hunter already this morning about it and just let Savage know."

I hear Chance shuffle in his seat. "Huh we are the last to know then? Can't say that's a surprise."

If King had heard Chances quips he doesn't acknowledge them, instead he just continues on - taking my silence as an invitation to continue.

"I'm introducing Faye to the club. It's been a couple days... yes. But I can't have these two things separate. It's too hard on me and unfair on the club and the Omega."
