Amara's PoV
Ever since that day at the club, ever since he found out that I am a witch, I kept my vampire and wolf side hidden
Luckily, he hasn't found out. I've heard rumours that he is from a mafia, but nothing about the role he plays in the mafia, so I did come up with a few things
He's either the right hand by the boss, he could be the boss or just some member
I saw him open the curtains of his office, and he looked really pissed off. I covered my smirk and went onto my computer. I typed up his name and did some research
Research on Donte Blackwood:
Donte's empire spans various illegal activities, including drug trafficking, money laundering, arms dealing, and extortion.
He is known for his sophisticated operations, often using legitimate businesses as fronts for his illicit activities.
His influence extends beyond the streets, with deep ties to corrupt politicians, law enforcement officials, and business magnates.
Charismatic and intelligent, Donte is a master manipulator who can charm allies and intimidate enemies.
He is known for his strict code of loyalty and his brutal retribution against those who betray him.
Despite his vicious reputation, he maintains a veneer of respectability, often presenting himself as a legitimate businessman and philanthropist.
Donte Blackwood is both feared and revered within the criminal world. His story is often used as a cautionary tale about the seductive but dangerous allure of power and the inevitable consequences of a life of crime

Charismatic leadershipI slowly looked at Donte. Is he like me? Living a double life? Why would he do it? Apparently, everyone fears him, maybe not the supernaturals, though.
I need to confront him, though it may be a terrible idea to confront my boss who also happens to be a mafia boss. I have to do it.
I got up from my seat and went to his office, knocking on the door. "Come in." Those two words already sent shivers down my body.
I sighed and entered. He didn't even look up from his papers. "Boss," I spoke. Donte looked up slightly.
"Ah, if it isn't the imposter." I groaned, rolling my eyes.
"You've been on my mind since yesterday, you know," he said, getting up from his desk, slowly strolling around towards me.
"Why?" I asked, confused.
"You know why."
I shifted my eyes to the side, then back at him. "Because I had to reveal myself?"
He nodded slightly. "Not only that, but you managed to effortlessly absorb the power of another witch, also draining her power which now makes her human," he spoke, smirking.
He got up real close to me now, towering over me. "Do you have a knack for harming people?" he asked.
"I believe the questions you are asking me aren't work-related," I said sternly.
"So why are you here then?" he asked.
"I found out something interesting about you." He raised his eyebrow. "Mafia boss," I revealed, grinning. "So technically, you're also an imposter," I mocked.
"Actually, I'm not an imposter. No one just personally asked how I became the new boss so suddenly," he smirked.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"What I mean is-" Donte leaned down to my face, placing his right arm on the side of my face on the door.
His hot breath was against my skin as we locked eyes. "He died." I raised my eyebrow.
"You?" I asked.
"Indeed. I killed your former boss when... I found out you worked here. The day I locked eyes with you at the bar, I knew you were different," he spoke in a low, husky tone that any woman would be drawn to.
But I wasn't. Exactly.
"And I just had to find out why you are different. Why did you feel different from the other women I've looked at? You intrigued me just by looking at me," he grinned, then leaned back up.
"And I found out why, little witch. You just aren't a human. In fact, you're a different kind of witch. So, what kind are you?" Donte asked.
I steadied my breath, feeling the weight of his question. This was it-the moment of truth.
"I'm just a powerful witch, Donte," I revealed, my voice steady despite the tension crackling between us.
His eyes widened for a fraction of a second, then narrowed with curiosity. "Just a witch?" he echoed as if tasting the words.
"Yes. We draw our power from the elements around us. It's why I could absorb her power. Elemental magic is potent and versatile," I explained, carefully crafting my lie.
He stepped back slightly, considering this. "Interesting. And dangerous."
"Exactly. Which is why you should think carefully before toying with me, Donte," I warned.
He chuckled, a low, rumbling sound. "Oh, Amara, you've just made this game even more interesting."
"This isn't a game," I snapped, my eyes flashing. "If you wanted to know about me, now you do. But don't think for a second that makes me any less dangerous than you."
He nodded, a glimmer of respect in his eyes. "Fair enough. But remember, Amara, danger is a two-way street. You're not the only one with secrets."
With that, he turned back to his desk, dismissing me with a casual wave of his hand. I left his office, my mind racing. Donte was more than he seemed, and now he knew I was too. This was far from over.
As I walked back to my desk, I couldn't help but think about the real truth I'd hidden. Claiming to be a normal witch was convincing, but it wasn't the whole story.
If Donte ever discovered what I really was, what I was truly capable of, it would change everything. For now, though, pretending to be just a powerful witch would have to be enough.
