I was in the midst of decorating my new room in Donte's mansion, using my magic to float picture frames and arrange furniture with precision.

It felt oddly satisfying to transform a blank space into something that felt like mine, even if it was temporary.

The room was beginning to take shape, with splashes of my personal style making it distinct from the usual sterile elegance of Donte's mansion.

I was just floating a picture frame into place when I heard a knock at the door.

I moved over and opened it, revealing Donte standing in the hallway.

His gaze flicked briefly to the floating picture frame before returning to me.

"Evening," he greeted, his voice smooth as ever.

"Evening," I replied, stepping aside to let him in.

Donte's eyes lingered on the picture frame, which hovered mid-air before settling onto a small table.

He then turned his attention back to me. "Tonight, there's a mafia event with other families.

As a new addition, you're expected to attend. It's important for you to stay by my side to ensure everything goes smoothly."

I raised an eyebrow, curious. "What's the purpose of this event?"

"It's a networking opportunity," Donte explained. "We meet with other factions, establish alliances, and keep up appearances. It's a delicate balance of power and diplomacy."

I nodded, absorbing the information. "I see. And what about my appearance?"

Donte smiled, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "I'll have my personal designers and stylists come over to prepare you.

They'll handle the dresses, hair, and makeup. Trust me, you'll be ready for the event."

His tone was confident, and though I had my reservations about the need for such elaborate preparations, I appreciated the gesture.

"Alright," I said, trying to hide my amusement at the thought of a whole team being assigned to my makeover. "I'll be ready."

Donte's expression softened slightly. "Good. It's important to make a good impression.

You'll be under my protection, but blending in is also key. We don't want unnecessary attention."

"Understood," I replied, closing the door behind him. As he left, I couldn't help but chuckle.

Despite the danger and the constant manoeuvring, there was an odd comfort in the routine of preparing for an event like this.

Honestly, the prospect of seeing how Donte's team would transform me intrigued me.

With a sigh, I returned to my decorating, mentally preparing for the evening ahead.

The mingling of mafias promised to be an interesting experience, and if I were to make my mark in this world, it would be as much about appearances as it was about power.

As I finished arranging the last few items, I wondered what the night would bring.

Despite the tension between Marissa and me-her threats were more laughable than intimidating-I knew that fitting into this world would take more than just power.

It would require finesse, charm, and a bit of patience. I was ready to see how Donte's event would unfold and what role I would play in it.
