JUNGWON

After changing into our gym clothes, we waited for Mr. Cho to give us instructions on what to do for today's class.
"How much do you want to bet that it'll be dodgeball today?"
I glance over at Seomin who whispered that.

"We just had dodgeball a while ago, there's no way. 20."
The moment I responded however, Mr. Cho announced something that made my heart drop in an instant. Dodgeball.. Yet again. I swear something's up cuz ain't no way I've lost all these bets to her. I side eyed Seomin as she giggled to herself.

Mr. Choi separated us by numbers and fortunately, Seomin and I aren't on the same team. Before the game starts I see Seomin and Nari chatting in the corner of my eye. Then suddenly they turn and look my way with the creepiest smirk on their face. What's she up to now.. Just as I finished my thought, the teacher blew the whistle signaling the start to the game.

"Hey Sunghoon cover for me real quick."
I tell my best friend as I go to pick up the balls. We're halfway into the match and half the opposing team is out. Just as I turned back around, I see Seomin throwing a ball towards me. Thankfully I moved just in time, leaving the ball to hit the floor beside my foot. Oh it's on! While she was grabbing the ball beside her, I took that time to aim the ball for her. Fortunately for me, it hit her leg and she was out.

"Yah Yang Jungwon! What was that for?! I didn't even hit you! How could you?!"

"It's just a game c'mon. Plus if you did hit me I would've been out already. Wouldn't give me the chance to get back at you. Who told you to throw it at me and missed? Aim better next time!"
I stuck my tongue out at her as she walked off to the bleachers after whispering something to Nari.

I continued on with the game and soon there was only me, Sunghoon, Nari and another student on her team still standing.

"Hey I'll aim for the guy in front of me, you aim for her."
Wasting no time at all, I pick up the ball closest to me and start aiming. Unfortunately along with Sunghoon's hit, the other guy also managed to hit him too. Now there was only me and Nari still standing. I heard Seomin and a few others cheering for Nari and Sunghoon with others cheering for me.

"Hey Jungwon! Don't let your guard down, I'm quite good at this game."
Is this girl still the same shy girl from earlier today? I look towards her and see a smirk creeping up on her face. I would never lower my guard on anyone or anything. Watch out. Now this was getting interesting. I grinned a bit and we continued.

Finally Mr. Cho's whistle sounded signaling the end of the game.
"And the winner is Jungwon! His team wins! Good game everyone! Go get changed and head to next period."
I headed back with Sunghoon and the two girls caught up to us. Nari shook hands with me and Sunghoon.
"Damn you really put up a fight huh?"

"And you weren't too bad yourself."
I replied to her. We split ways to the locker rooms and met again in the classroom. The teacher was absent for the period so we had a sub come in. The worksheet was fairly easy and we were allowed to leave when we were done.

I packed my stuff up and waited outside the class.
"Ok I'm done let's go~"
I pulled out a samgak kimbap and the last strawberry milk from the bag and handed it to Seomin who walked out with Nari. We walked out the school and crossed the side walk when Seomin asked Nari if she wanted to walk home together. The cued girl politely declined saying she had to go the opposite direction and we bid our goodbyes.

"It's a shame she doesn't live in the same neighborhood as us. I would trade you with her to be my neighbor any day."

"You say it like I want to be neighbors with you. I'd trade you for Sunghoon. A shame our parents bought houses next to each other."
Seomin glared at me and we bickered the way home. It's become second nature to head to Seomin's home as my parents were out with work and barely comes home and grandma's out at the park with her friends at this time, when "the sun's not boiling every soul that's out on the streets."
