for ivy, the next couple of weeks with arthur were amazing. they spent almost every waking minute with each other (when they weren't filming) and they both loved it.
ivy had also introduced arthur to poppy and lily. poppy loved him immediately, and so did lily although she didn't show it.
two days had passed since the introduction and arthur was at ivys place.
"arth, you know there's a new cafe down the street we should go sometime!" the girl says which causes him to smile. he loved her company more than he could fathom.
"yeah maybe." he replies, not really caring. his mind was elsewhere.
"are you ok?" she asks him, noticing his nonchalant tone. usually arthur would be more excited, but today it was like he had other things on his mind
"i met someone." he says, without a thought.
in that moment it was like ivys heart shattered before her. she didn't know whether to cry or smile. hug him or punch him. her heart dropped but was also stuck in her throat. it was like the whole world just collapsed.
"what?" she asks, making sure she heard him right. she knew she had. she hated that she had.
"i met someone, and she's really great!" he smiles enthusiastically.
ivy just broke. her smile dropped. everything dropped. she felt like she'd been punched in the stomach. luckily she knew arthur couldn't see her
"what's her name?" she asks him out of politeness. she also wanted to know to stalk the girl, find something bad and show arthur.
"her names rory, she works at the natural history museum and is one of george's friends, i met her while you looked around the shop when we went and rory and i exchanged numbers. she's lovely." he spoke so highly of her.
she sounded... perfect.
she sounded exactly like arthur's type and it broke ivy. it broke her. she wanted to curl up into a ball and cry. was she seriously unlovable. she knew that she struggled with commitment, everyone knew she did but for the first time ever she wanted to try for arthur. she would have stuck with it.
as lana del rey once said 'when you know, you know' and ivy never believed it. not until arthur. not until she cancelled 3 photoshoots to hand out with arthur this week.
"oh cool!" she tried to sound enthusiastic, she really did but she couldn't. she hated herself. she hated him for not liking her. fuck she could never hate him.
"in fact i've got a date so i'm going to have to leave you ives." he smiles, getting up off her sofa and going to the door.
"ok have fun arthur." arthur. arthur arthur.
arthur.
she hasn't called him arthur since the first time they met. it felt wrong coming from her mouth. he's arth. he's her arth.
he hesitated at being called arthur. he knew something between them had shifted in that moment but he didn't know what. he didn't like being called arthur all of a sudden. it was like venom.
but he walked out the door anyway, not wanting to leave his date waiting.
as he left, ivy started crying. she broke. the tears came and didn't stop.
she grabbed her phone and searched through arthur's following until she found it. until she found her.

ivy was heartbroken, pissed, confused. rory took her nickname. HER nickname. SHE called him arth. ONLY her. she hated it. she hated reading it. she wanted to die.
arth. fucking arth. she wanted to kill both of them.
what made it worse is that she couldn't find anything bad about rory. she was perfect in every way. she was beautiful, she was kind, she loved animals. she was a female arthur and it broke ivy.
ivy liked that her nerdiness for dinosaurs balanced arthur's nerdiness for animals but with rory in the picture she was fucked. rory LOVED animals.
