ivy had spent the whole day singing with taylor, trying to get false god finished and they did, luckily. unfortunately, by the time ivy got back to the hotel room she was shot.

ivy's birthday was on the 30th of august, little did she know that there was a party planned for her 27th for when she got home from new york the next day. the same day that false god was being released.

"hey ives!" arthur says, having left the shoot 30 minutes prior so he could get back and order some door before ivy got in.

"hey arth,"' she smiles at him, sitting next to him on the sofa and leaning her head on his shoulder.

arthur loved this, he wanted to stay like this forever and ever. he wanted her. she wanted him.

"do you believe in god?" arthur asks her. he wasn't sure exactly why, maybe something to do with the title of the song, but he was curious.

"it's a weird subject for me," she confesses, not really sure what else to say. "i don't, and everyone knows i'm an atheist but when life gets shit i pray oddly enough."

"because there's nothing else you can do?" he looks at her as she nods.

ivy begins to fiddle with her fingers, looking down at her lap. religion was a touchy subject for her and arthur realised that, deciding to drop it.

"did the song sound good?" she asks him, wanting to change the topic as his face lights up.

"it's so good ives, i love it. it reminds me of us to be honest." he looks at her dead in the eye as ivy freezes, knowing the song was partly written about her experience that she'd told taylor.

"what do you mean?" she asks him, wanting to see if he'd worked it out.

"the bit where it's like 'they all warned us about times like these' reminds me of chris saying well you know..." he trails off, not wanting to bring up the old conversation.

"arthur." she uses his full name, which immediately gets his attention.

"yes ivy?" he says her full name back, scared that the mood has changed.

the air had gotten thick all of a sudden.

"why aren't we together?" she asks him.

maybe it was ivy's lack of sleep or arthur's inability to sense social cues, but the question hung in the air for a while.

neither of them knew what to say.

"i've just gotten out of a relationship ives." he says to her.

ivys heart breaks into a million pieces. all she wants is for them to be together, be happy.

"when i told you i loved you, if rory hadn't have walked in what would you have said?" she questions him, a little harsher than intended.

"ives i don't know, probably the same?" lie. lie. lie. he would have told her that he loves her too.

"when you picked ollie up in jersey, what did you mean when you said i was your best friend?" ivy knew there was more to his words.

"that we're friends?" another fucking question and lie. he had listened to 'you are in love' by taylor swift on repeat to jersey and hoped she would understand the reference when he said it to her.

"when you got jealous of george, you were in a relationship. why were you jealous?" she recalls the comments on her posts, the message she received from her.

"because i wanted to talk to you." another lie. he was in love with her. so fucking in love with her.

"when you booked us both museum tickets so we could look at dinosaurs and animals, together. why did you do that for a complete stranger?" that day was one of the best days of her life... until she found out it was the day that arthur met rory.

"we're both nerds, i thought that you would enjoy going to the museum with me!" he couldn't lie for much longer. one more question from her and he'd confess like there was no tomorrow.

"when you said that i'm the only one who can call you arth, and you're the only one who can call me ives. what about that arthur? am i being stupid or was that seriously all casual?"

that's was it.

he couldn't lie to her.

"jesus ives, no. i'm so fucking in love with you that it's scaring me. i want to marry you, have kids, grow old. with you. i want you and only you!" he shouts standing up, looking at the girl.

oh.

oh!

"then why aren't we together arth?" she asks for the second time that night. she was so confused. all she wanted was him.

"i don't know, because we're both idiots?" he smiles slightly as she chuckles.

"arth."

"ives."

"just fucking kiss me would you?"
