"arthur." ivy says as she stares at him from his doorway. he wasn't himself. he didn't look like himself. he wasn't smiling, arthur always smiles.
"ivy." he replies, looking up at the girls tear stained cheeks. she stood admiring him, like it's the last time she'll ever see his face. taking in every detail like it was about to be ripped from her grasp.
"i'm so sorry arth." she finally makes eye contact with him. arth, finally arth. after this long, excruciating month he was finally her arth again.
the nickname arth felt right again. rory kept calling him arth, and every time he would grimace. he is scared for the day where he snaps and says that only ives calls him arth.
"i know you are ives, i forgive you," he smiles slightly at her, as she comes to sit on his bed next to him. she left just enough space.
"what about her?" she asks him, not wanting to say her name. her stupid fucking name. ivy knows she can't blame rory for her potential career failure, but god does she want to.
"she has a name ivy." and there it was. she fucked up again. she was back to ivy. stupid fucking ivy. she hated it. she hated when he called her that.
"sorry, rory how is she feeling?" she asks him properly this time. she doesn't know why, but rory has brought out the worst in her.
he laughs slightly at her question. she furrows her eyebrows.
"she, well, she isn't happy obviously." he laughs again, this one more prominent than the last. ivy supposed it is the most obvious thing in the world.
"look i really am sorry, my management is pissed at me, i don't even know if poppy and lily are my friends, i'm pissed at chris and george is like the only person i've got at the moment." she sighs as she runs her hand through her hair.
arthur grows jealous of this, he knows he shouldn't but he does. he doesn't like the idea of ives and george. it wasn't right.
"pissed at chris?" he asks, not expecting it. the two were too close for their own good sometimes.
"he told you not to fall for me because of my commitment issues didn't he? that's the reason we can't happen." she looks at him, another tear slowly falling down her face.
he freezes. she knew, she knew that was the reason he was with rory.
"i'm sorry for loving you arth." she adds on.
he's even more frozen, as he sees rory behind ivy. fuck. he'd been caught. he didn't know what to say. he wanted to say 'i love you too' and then he could dump rory and they could get together against all odds. they could be led by blind faith.
"i can't love you as you want me too ivy." he says, his eyes staying on rory. he was scared. he betrayed her trust.
ivy turns around, standing up immediately after seeing rory.
"rory i'm so so-" she begins as she's cut off.
"get the fuck out, how dare you see him after he said he didn't want to see you. how dare you say you love him. he's mine and you need to accept that." she says harshly.
ivy just leaves, realising that's it's not the worth the argument. she was becoming a better person and she hopes arthur could see that.
