ivy sat there frustrated at arthur. she didn't want to meet rory and she hated that arthur was probably right. they would get on and it was eating ivy alive. she wanted to hate her but she couldn't. rory was herself and more.

rory probably doesn't have commitment issues. rory probably talks about her problems. rory probably won't break arthur's heart. rory is probably perfect.

rory is everything arthur wants and more, ivy hates that. she hates that she'll never be like rory. she hates that arthur picked rory when she was right there.

yes she's messed up. yes she'd probably get cold feet and break up with him like she usually does. yes she bottles up her feelings until she breaks. she was, however, going to try and change for him. he is her only exception.

so what did ivy do? lay there and play the only exception by paramore.

cool! fucking cool! arthur sat there reading her reply to his girlfriends comment. he knew it was laced with sarcasm. he knew ivy too well.

"hey arth!" rory said, coming over to sit next to him on the sofa. he didn't want to tell her, but he secretly hated rory calling him arth. it didn't sound right coming out of anyone else's mouth except ivys.

"hey rory, everything ok?" he replies, kissing her gently and smiling. rory was everything arthur could ask for apart from one thing. she wasn't ivy.

she'll never be ivy, but he knows that ivy will never want him so he had to move on. rory is perfect for that.

"yeah i was just wondering if ives has a problem with me? i don't mean to be rude but..." rory states as arthur look at the girl and shakes his head.

ives. fucking ives. only he calls ivy ives. he wanted to shout at his poor girlfriend, but knew it wasn't right.

"no no, she's just awful with new people and is a bit hostile, i'm sure if you got to know each other you two would be friends!" he says somewhat enthusiastically.

it was a lie, however. ivy is not hostile to new people, in fact she loves meeting new people which is quite the opposite of arthur.

arthur doesn't understand why ivy is acting the way she is. ivy doesn't understand why's she's acting the way she is. in ivys eyes, she really wants to be nice to rory. she hates being rude. but just the idea that rory has something she'll never have really hurts her.

"oh ok, is she coming to the party tomorrow?" she asks her boyfriend to which he shrugs.

"it's ivy, fuck knows what she's doing. probably too busy fucking george for all i care!" he snaps. as he realises his harsh tone his eyes soften. "sorry." he mutters.

"no it's ok, you're annoyed she didn't tell you seeing as you're friends, i get it." rory smiles.

oblivious rory. oblivious to the fact that arthur is not angry at not being told, but rather jealous that someone else - his best friend none the less - has got ivy and not him.
