chapter ten, why do you worry?

HIDING AWAY FROM THE PROBLEMS THAT LIED OUTSIDE OF THE WORLD OF FRANCESCA AND AARON IS WHAT THEY DID BEST. Currently, they were hiding from the other nine girls who had been searching for Aaron for hours. It seemed as if they had disappeared, when in reality, they were just in his library.

The two were sitting on a large windowsill, reading silently whilst talking every now and again. After a while Aaron had lost focus on his book and refocused on Francesca. He couldn't look away, the ray of sun that shone onto her face, the soft smile that lightened when she read something she liked, the scrunch of her nose when she read something she found that was funny or cringy, it was all so perfect.

Aaron cleared his throat to get Francesca's attention, a question popping up in his mind. Francesca looked up, her eyes softening when she saw Aaron already looking at her.

"Are you okay after yesterday?" He asked, and for a second Francesca didn't know what he meant. Then it clicked, he was talking about Linette and her wine that she threw onto Francesca.

"Oh, what? The wine incident? Aaron I'm fine! It was just wine," Francesca laughed softly, tucking some hair behind her ear. Aaron's eyes flashed, his heart started to race as he thought back to the night before.

"That wine could have easily been a knife."

"Aaron, it wasn't a knife. She's not going to kill me, especially not with a glass of wine." Francesca smiled at him, her eyes lightening at the concern in his voice.

"You don't know that," Aaron replied, his jaw clenched and his eyebrows furrowed. Francesca reached forward and grabbed his hand, sending warmth throughout his body. It was like a million volts of electricity shot through his hand and to his heart.

"Aaron, why is this worrying you so much?" Francesca asked, her lips twitching into a slight frown. She didn't want to worry him but she didn't know why this was worrying him as much as it was. Aaron took a second to think, but his mind drew up blank.

"I......I dont know," Aaron answered honestly, squeezing Francesca's hand. Francesca smiled softly at him, scooting closer. The two looked into each others eyes, completely entranced. Francescas smiled slowly faded, her lips parted slightly as a soft blush tainted her cheeks. Aaron reached forward and tucked back the same strand of hair behind Francesca's ear, it had fallen again.

"You're so beautiful," he whispered, not aware of what he was doing. His heart clenched, longing for Francesca, but he didn't know what this meant. What were these sudden feelings he harbored for his friend? She wasn't just his friend, she was becoming his best friend! So what was he feeling?

Francesca's blush deepened, but that didn't stop her from leaning in. Aaron leaned in too, it became clear that neither one knew what they were doing. But they knew they wanted it, so so bad. The two almost brushed lips, their hearts thumping in their chests as their breath fanned each others faces. Their eyes never once left each other, well until a loud noise sounded from outside the doors. The two jumped apart and instantly looked away from one another.

After a long beat of silence the sound of paper being ripped filled the air, followed by paper being crumbled. Just as Aaron looked up he felt a ball of paper hit his forehead, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he looked to Francesca who could barely hide her giggle. Aaron glared at her playfully before the two burst out in laughter, Francesca hitting him as she laughed.

"You ruined my book!" Aaron playfully scolded, his smile still evident on his face much like his laugh was in his voice. Francesca gasped for air, a bright smile on her face and laughter in her lungs.

"You can buy more! Plus, I saw like ten copies of this exact book," she giggled, her eyes brimming with tears. The two took a few seconds to calm down, their lungs desperately in need of air that they just did not want to give. Their body's were still so close to one another, their legs touching and creating a sense of heat between the two. However, the heat would go unspoken.

Another loud noise sounded outside of the large library doors causing the two to let out a groan, they were being searched for and it looked like they had been found. The two scrambled to get up, closing their books. The jump from the windowsill wasn't too high but Aaron would be damned if he didn't help Francesca down, so he offered her his hand. She took it, jumping down from the window and dragging him to one of the bookcases. She got on the ladder and put her book away, along with his. Not once did she remove her hand from his.

With that, the two left the room and returned to the group of woman. For the rest of the night the two couldn't stop looking at each other, stealing glances when they thought no one was looking. Newsflash: there is always someone who is looking. This time, it was Kate and Linette.
